Like any organized group, it takes a little effort to keep the wheels on the AIR bus and help it stay on track.

The first Asheville brevet series was held in 2015 under the supevision of the High Point region. In 2016, we held our first brevets under our independet region and have been growing since. Last year, we held our first grand brevet. In my estimation, your brevet region is home to the most challenging brevets in North America.

I am soliciting support from the membership to form a steering committee to guide our direction and assist in some administrative tasks in order to ensure the longterm sustainability of the Asheville region.

Loose structure, no rigidity. With purpose.

We'll get business done with a smile and only meet when we need to.
Start with quarterly meetings and reduce to biannual meetings as a target.
Additional ad hoc meetings for special projects.
With any luck, we can ride our bikes to a cafe and support a local business while we're at it. Maybe even ride bikes after.

Why? Like, what is there to talk about?
I have a few ideas but don't want to limit our aspirations to what's in my brain.

If you're interested, please reply by 3/30 so we can begin planning.
Thanks!
Luke

I am interested to help out however I can. AIR is special to me and makes riding with any other group a bit of a bummer. 🤠

Bikes are okay. I’ll make people ride dirt roads. Tell me what I need to do. <3

Evidently I set a lofty goal of 3/30 to start planning.
With the 1000km brevet in the rearview, I'm ready to look ahead.

Please reply with your availability:
Sat May 10
Sat May 31
Sun June 1

I'll throw a 100km brevet on the calendar if folks want to do a ride before or after the meeting.

I could do Sat May 10 or Sat May 31, but have plans on 6/1. May 10 would be slightly better for me than the 31st.

I am only available on May 10. Please don’t plan around me.

I am out on May 10th.  My daughter is graduating from UNCA!  Maybe May 31 depending on time, and probably June 1.  Don't plan around me either.

Congrats on the 1000k!

Thanks,
Jimmy

How about an 8am coffee meeting on Saturday 5/10 followed by a casual ride toward craggy?
Coffee location TBD

After reviewing the downtown options with coffee/food and space to meet, I'm landing on:
Flour @ S&W market,  56 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28801.
They've got ample space upstairs to mill about and they open at 8am.

Alt consideration is The Rhu at  10 S Lexington Ave, Asheville, NC 28801.
They have large tables upstairs but they don't open till 830am.

Another alternative:

Then again, there're better breakfast options at 5 Points or Brueggers... though their usefulness as a meeting space is somewhat less optimal.

C U Saturday.

I failed to look to the North!
Good ideas, Tony.
I'll have my little munckins with me seated at a nearby table with headphones.
I'm sure any of these will work for us.

The ‘casual ride toward craggy’ is intriguing but knowing Tony & the rest of ya’ll how casual are you in May? I mean casual for Tony is 100M before breakfast.

I think Tony's suggestions were better than mine.
Anyone have a preference?
Green sage seems like a good bet with ample parking and meeting space
