Hi Ken,
I have a few questions about the artsmesh software

1. what is the different between 'server and client' and the important of it, when establish the audio /video link?
2. I am using a blackmagic mini recorder capture card for video input, however it is not showing in the drop down menu. What do I need to do?
3. For instance that i am transmitting audio and video at the same time, is there a video and audio sync function?

thanks so much Ken

-James

1. server has to have open ports on his router.
after connected, roles have no meaning
3. no video and audio sync. audio goes as fast it can. video encoding is way to slow.
we don’t slow down the audio.

I’ll be around this week if you need to meet.
Ken

actually, there are other situations where you can sync audio and video before broadcast.
ableton has track delay. you might try that.

thanks Ken!
I managed to get the blackmagic input working through syphon.

As for the audio delay, i will look at solution through a live audio mixer.
I am looking at a live jamming situation in between Perth Australia, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and Singapore, and broadcasting it LIVE to youtube from 1 location.
Anything I should look out for, do and don'ts?

great,
could you keep us posted on the progress as you go along.
what’s your network situation there? Who are the players? do you have a production crew working along side.
what are your goals, one broadcast, a new channel? what is the glue/vibe that holds that channel together?
etc.

Good luck,
Ken

We manage to get the audio side of things working. Testing between Perth and KL, Malaysia. Both location has solid internet around 100mbps.
The latency is about 200ms, is there anyway to reduce this latency?

As for video - We were trying out the video ffmpeg, both location port is opened, however only Perth manage to receive KL video with very poor quality while KL couldn’t get video from Perth.
What could be the problem? Is the feature fully functional?

are both 5564 opened for ffmpeg (video)?
only the bandwidth and quality of service affects that.

the video comes on the bottom row of the two rows in video mixer panel.
you click on the bottom part of the bottom window on drop down that shows peers IP:Port info.

look at video log in the network tools panel. it will be streaming ok or showing an IO error (wrong frame rate usually for camera).

anyway, the video for zoom or such is faster for your performances.
Our video (ffmpeg) may be higher quality but slower.
So you only need that if you want to stream a video art performance using vdmx or something.

hi,
starts at: 4464
then does port offsets by +1.
So open ports 4464 to 4474.

video is 5564-5574.

open sound control (oscgroups) will do it’s own NAT hole punching.
