Hi all,
I hope everyone is doing well. Things are starting to come together for ARLISS. It looks like there will be at least 40 "M" flights this year.
I just wanted to let you know there will be a bulk buy from AltusMetrum for electronics on your ARLISS rockets. Please send me your wish list and I'll start a spreadsheet. I would like to have the order placed by the end of this month, so please get me your request soon.
Also, please let me know if you'll be flying this year and what days you'll be attending the launch.
I look forward to seeing you on the playa.

Becky,
Sorry for the late reply. We are actively finalizing our travel plans. As of today, we will be arriving at the launch on Monday the 8th sometime in the afternoon. I'll team up with Gary Lech and get re-educated on the ARLISS process.  I'm really looking forward to being there this year.

Greetings ARLISS,
I need a little help. I'm building a fin can with an aluminum roll cage. Before I start drilling and tapping double check me that this is the position of the fins on the cage. The forward hole in the fin then screws into a centering ring. The drawings I have don't show this detail.

Thanks for the help.

Fly safe,

I would say this is generally correct.  However, you may want to adjust the fins somewhat to account for a rear centering ring or motor retainer, relative to where you want the tail root of the fins to meet the tail of the body tube.  If you recess the motor retainer, you will have to recess the rear centering ring further which will also move the internal fin can forward.

You may be looking at making a thin can something like this and the centering ring sits at either end for holding the motor tube and of course space accordingly for the aftend. These were made by a member's brother-in-law in the Machine Shop for ARLISS.
