Keith and Bdale gave me a special educator AltusMetrum account that has a 25% discount for flight computers, trackers, ground stations, and altimeters.

You can view what is in stock at https://shop.gag.com/flight-computers.html

Thanks for this heads up John. I'm certainly interested in adding ground station and teleGPS equipment as a backup to my current tracking setup, and maybe a couple of EasyMini altimeters as backups given:

At the risk of morphing this into an Altimeters thread (looks like the last discussion on the group was over 5 years ago so maybe it is time), has the idea of adjusting the time of the main terminal output delay from 2 to 6 seconds when using the "Redundant Apogee" igniter fire mode (section 12.6.15 at https://altusmetrum.org/AltOS/doc/altusmetrum.html#_configure_altimeter) been investigated or discussed with Keith and Bdale? This might require a custom "ARLISS-mode" firmware version, but an EasyMini with this setup could be a reasonably priced (and very compact) backup altimeter to a TeleMega/Metrum, RRC3 or Raven (which have pyro output flexibility necessary for typical arliss event - I'm using a Raven and RRC3 currently). Since the change to the firmware should only affect "Redundant Apogee" mode, I would expect that a EasyMini running this firmware would be usable for other flight profiles for those that need to move altimeters around for projects at other times of the year. Potentially an adjustable delay for this mode could be added to the UI which would allow there to be a single firmware version at the expense of quite a bit more engineering work than what might be a small patch and recompile.

I've not looked at the code yet, or investigated building alternative firmware versions so if there are others on the list who have done this before and think it's a crazy idea, I'm open to being dissuaded.

I believe I see in the code to see where this could be adjusted. It's currently set on line 67 of [fw/altos]src/kernel/ao_ignite.c . Changing the 2000 there to 6000 would set 6 seconds between the apogee channel and main channel firing when in "Redundant Apogee" mode. This is probably better discussed over in the Altus Metrum list so I'll take it up over there and reply back here on any updates.

You can contact Keith directly at: kei...@keithp.com

The PNW ARLISS fliers have been using TeleMega altimeters as the primary and Perfectflite CF altimeter for the backup for the last 5 or 6 years.

The setting up the AltusMetrum units becomes easier, once you understand how Keith thinks.

Stop by the PNW ARLISS camp should you need any assistance.

With the sporadic availability of the Perfectflite CY units, our new builds will use a TeleMega paired with an EasyMini for availability reasons.

Looks like the TeleMega and TeleMetrum are out of stock.

John,
Does this offer apply to 'High school STEM' too?
I've been using  "scrounging up" old ARTS altimeters for the past 10 years.

Would me ordering 10 Altus Minis and 10 batteries..be..OK?

Tony
