I circulated the peanutabout schematic amongst my fellow APBP members. Feedback generally was that an overpass at the narrow waist of the peanut would be the best solution. But also that an at-grade crossing in that same location, supplemented by RRFBs, could also work. (Should function pretty much the same as any roundabout exit.)
I could see the County taking an incremental approach:
a) Build the peanutabout as per the schematic and evaluate performance (including trail delay).
b) When they find trail LOS has gone down instead of improved then install the mid-peanut crossing as above. Further evaluation & iteration as needed.
c) While all that's happening, put an overpass into the CIP and start lining up funding.
