Hi,

I generated an AIP with Archivematica. I downloaded it and try to make a new ingestion as an usual unzipped bag.

The following step failed: Move medata to objects directory

Here the details:

Command: moveOrMerge_v0.0 "/var/archivematica/sharedDirectory/watchedDirectories/workFlowDecisions/metadataReminder/sip-dnum-2743050-final-reingest-fadf12e3-16b5-4c7e-80b1-2b127c24edca/metadata" "/var/archivematica/sharedDirectory/watchedDirectories/workFlowDecisions/metadataReminder/sip-dnum-2743050-final-reingest-fadf12e3-16b5-4c7e-80b1-2b127c24edca/objects/metadata"

Destination path '/var/archivematica/sharedDirectory/watchedDirectories/workFlowDecisions/metadataReminder/sip-dnum-2743050-final-reingest-fadf12e3-16b5-4c7e-80b1-2b127c24edca/objects/metadata/transfers' already exists

Any help?

Thanks,
Pascale

Hi Pascale,

I'm kind of guessing here, but it seems like directories with your AIP's UUID already exist on the pipeline and that's why it fails. What version of Archivematica are you using? Is there any reason you're not using the re-ingest function within Archivematica? (https://www.archivematica.org/en/docs/archivematica-1.6/user-manual/ingest/ingest/#reingest)

Cheers,

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

We are using Archivematica 1.5. I wanted to reingest an AIP package as a new SIP.
I just figured out that Archivematica is not able to do that this way. As Archivematica is supposed to ingest a SIP and not an AIP, I'm getting the error that the .../objects/metadata/transfers already exists. That's consistent. So, I understand that Archivematica doesn't recognize the AIP structure into a SIP by itself.

I need to be able to reingest an AIP package as a new SIP without using the re-ingest function because we are not storing AIP into Archivematica. Will it be possible to do it with automation tools?

Thanks,
Pascale

Hi Pascale,

Assuming you're able to upgrade to version 1.6 (or 1.6.1, or 1.7 once it's released), and assuming the Archivematica Storage Service has access to your AIP storage location, you should be able to use the AIP re-ingest functionality. AIPs aren't really stored "in" Archivematica, instead the Storage Service manages Archivematica's access to AIP storage locations. Are you moving your AIPs manually to a different location after they are stored? What type of storage are you using?

Cheers,

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Yes, I will upgrade to the latest version.
In fact, our AIPs are moved from the AIP Storage to iRods. That's why we cannot use the dashboard interface to re-ingest.
Do you plan to allow automation tools to deal with AIP as SIP?

Thanks,
Pascale

Hi Pascale,

Sorry for the delay responding. The automation tools already allow you to re-ingest AIPs so I see no reason why other AIP-related functionality couldn't be developed.

AIP migration might be a feature of interest- it's been developed in part but as of yet has not been merged into the main branch of the code. If you're interested in taking a look here is a development branch of the Storage Service: https://github.com/artefactual/archivematica-storage-service/tree/dev/issue-9909-move-endpoint-0_10_0

Having said this, I think the Storage Service would still need to be aware of your iRODS storage location to make best use of this. There has been some community work on this but we haven't had the resources to get it into the Storage Service.

Cheers,

Sarah
