Hi All,

My name is Elishai Cohen, and I am, together with Yael Alef, part of the leading team of the Israel Culture Heritage Inventory.

I'm glad to inform you that in the upcoming days we are about to start a pilot to work with arches.
We installed version5 and updated arches-example-pkg in order to examine the data model.

When using the dictionaries, thesauruses, I sometimes in specific fields i get 'loading failed'.
Can you please advise how to solve this problem?

It will be great if you could send a detailed full user guide on this system.

Thanks in advance,
  Elishai Cohen

Hi Elishai,

It’s great to hear you’re working with Arches.

I have had this issue sometimes and it’s normally where I have failed to set the concept collection in the resource model. So in this example on the storage Building Name Type I haven’t set the Concept Collection

So when I attempt to use the dropdown in the card I get

If I add a collection…

Then the card looks like this…

I hope this helps and please pass on my regards to Yael!

Regards

Phil

Hi Elishai,

We are excited to hear that you and Yael Alef are working together on an Arches pilot for the Israeli Cultural Heritage Inventory.  In your message, you mentioned your interest in seeing a detailed full user guide of Arches.  Our most complete documentation on installing and using Arches is available here:

Also, recently, a community collaboration effort has begun to bring the the documentation up-to-date with the recent changes related to the Version 5 release.   If you wish to participate in this community effort, please refer to this forum post:

On the topic of user guides, we have seen examples of user guides published by organization's implementing Arches. Recently, Jersey Heritage posted user guides specific for their Arches instance.  You can see their guides here:

I hope this information is helpful as you continue to work with Arches.  Please keep us posted on your progress!  Thanks!

Best,

Alina
