The Tuesday August 17 build night will focus on getting the store room cleaned out and organized so we will be in compliance with our lease. My plan is to: 1). Have one (smaller) crew removing/sorting things from under the long 3D printer bench along the windows in the lab. 2). Have another (larger) crew carrying the stuff from the storage area to the (probably floor) of the classroom. There is a game night event scheduled that needs the table space so we are going to make every effort to accommodate them. 3). Then, by bringing together all of the plastic bins from both locations we should have just about enough bins for every full member to have one under the 3D printer bench. 4). Finally, there will be some things that are either AR-Owned or that we know the status of that we can put back in the storeroom. The SaA will maintain a row-shelf-position "checkout" in the storeroom for things that won't fit into an individual's bin.
I hope for a good turnout as many hands will make light work.

Hello Everyone,
Recently our Sergeant at Arms sent out an email about cleaning up the storage spaces within Archreactor.  Based on the feedback from the community, we pushed out that initial cleaning date and now want to follow up with more details and a proposed timeline for this "storage-space-ageddan".

Why?
We have not cleaned any of our member storage areas in, possibly, ever since moving into our current building.  Junk has piled up and its time for us to do a deep cleaning to both keep the space functional but also to maintain the requirements of our lease (we are blocking access to the elevator shaft).  Its pretty bad in there, and we have the suspicion that much of it is just abandoned.

This current timeline will give people a little over two month's notice to come get their items, which we feel is adequate for most members.

Who and What areas will be affected?
This notice pertains both to the storage room in front of the elevator as well as the shelves in the lab underneath the 3D printers.

When?
Aug 17th (final date to be set at business meeting):
We will host a space improvement night and volunteers will go through the storage areas and move member tubs to the classroom UNLESS they have been marked with some variant of "keep" plus a recent date.  Members will be encouraged to either pick up their storage bins from the classroom or to have marked them by this date.

End of September (final date to be set at business meeting)
By the end of September, members will have had two months to either
1) Pick up their stuff from the space and remove (best option)
2) Labeled their material to keep (good option).

Unclaimed bins by the end of August will be broken down and contents either auctioned or trashed.

If you cannot get to the space within two months, then please email the board with a description of your bin/storage items and we will work out a plan.  For people who do email us, please be aware that we are trying to set definitive timelines for items either being used or completely removed from the space.

But wait?  Is there more?
The board would like to work with the community to make some possible changes to our storage policies.  We don't want to say too much until we have some options to propose, but we do want to move away from the forever storage we have now.

As we continue to grow, we won't have space for all members to keep totes.  We do want to keep storage at the space for people's ACTIVE projects and so we need to find a way to balance the space physical constraints/ keeping the space clean/ and making the most of what we have.

Thanks for your time reading this email - feel free to reach out with questions/comments at our business meetings, board emails, google groups, or discord.
Arch Board 2021.

I will be there, and should have 3 kids with me for Grunt work.   They will have to leave by 8:15 though I will be there later than that.
