Hi ARA team! Is it possible to get a reservation > 5 hours for a long running experiment (e.g. something that runs for a week)? If so, what is the process for making this request? Thanks!

Hi Fraida,

Thank you for your interest in using the ARA testbed.

The current maximum reservation limit is set to 5 hours to help ensure fair and equitable access to ARA resources across the user community. However, we understand that certain experiments may require longer reservation periods, and requests for extended allocations can be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Approval of longer reservations depends on several factors, including the specific resources requested, current and anticipated demand for those resources, the duration of the requested reservation, and the nature of the experiment. Our goal is to balance the needs of individual projects while maintaining fair resource availability for all users.

Could you please send the following information to sup...@arawireless.org and CC ara-s...@iastate.edu on the email?

  • The specific ARA resources you would like to reserve for an extended period.
  • The requested reservation duration.
  • A brief description of the experiment or project.
  • Why the experiment requires continuous access beyond the default reservation limit.

Once we have this information, we can review the request and determine the most appropriate allocation based on resource availability and community demand.

We look forward to learning more about your experiment.

Best regards,

Sarath Babu
