Like other long-time Avare users, I'm finding the adjustment to AvareX difficult.
I absolutely could not use AvareX in flight in its current condition.
I'll ask a few questions and offer some observations in the hopes of of improving my understanding and providing useful feedback.

I'm using AvareX 0.0.19, downloaded from the Google Play Store earlier today, on a Samsung S10e running Android version 12.  Let me know if you'd like more details.

First, is there any documentation available?  I apologize if I've missed something obvious here.  I've seen comments about press-and-hold bringing up documentation, and pressing the "i"nfo circles does bring up a (very short) description for some things, but nothing comprehensive.

How does one exit AvareX?  The back buttton (<) has no effect.  Someone mentioned double-tapping, but that doesn't work for me (it zooms the map in).

What is the button to the left of the layers button supposed to do?  This is the button that looks like an up-arrow with a dot on it.  I've seen comments/questions about obstacle display -- is that what this will do?  It does nothing for me that I can see now.

I successfully got AvareX to recognize my Stratux device.  (Thanks to Jeff who pointed out that only one app can receive at once.)  I see the SRC reflects that (saying "Ext.").  Is an external source always preferred over an internal one?  (I'm one of those people who strongly prefers being able to explicitly configure things like this.)

Before downloading any charts, the map display was a basic non-aviation map (from OpenStreetMaps?).  It would be nice to be able to select that map (instead of an aviation chart) later, but I don't see a way to do that.  I guess I could select the Helicopter charts that I don't download :-).  I see there is an "OSM" layer, which I'm guessing means OpenStreetMaps, but I haven't seen any difference in behavior between it being on or off.

When internet-connected via wifi, zooming in on the OpenStreetMaps map worked fine, but after switching to the Stratux wifi network, zooming no longer works, even to the level that I'd seen before.  I don't suppose there's any way to control the level of caching of that map data?  Under what conditions will map data be fetched -- only on wifi, or on any network?  It would also be nice to be able to explicitly fetch data for offline use.

I've seen a number of weird tiling behaviors.  I've seen tiles go black.  I've seen some fall back to the basic non-aviation map.  When zooming out and back in, I've seen the map drop back to the non-aviation map and/or look incredibly grainy, and it has taken minutes to refresh to a usable image.  Panning and/or zooming sometimes helps clear things up, but sometimes not.   After switching map layers, it sometimes doesn't update until I zoom/pan around.  I expect that these kinds of things will be worked out in due time, but it might also be nice for users to force a refresh somehow.

The way to dismiss the Menu panel is to swipe left.  The layers panel dismisses with the Back (<) button.  Could the Menu also respond to Back?

Is there a way to get rid of the track (the long red line ahead of the aircraft position)?  Ideally, the length of the line would be configurable (with zero being an option :-).

The circles layer is nice.  Having only three rings (2, 5, 10), regardless of map zoom, isn't so helpful, though.  This is another thing I'd like to be able to configure.

I have several devices on which I run Avare.  In order to reduce the load on the maps servers (and to make updates go much faster), I mirror map data on a machine at home, and then update all of my devices from there.  It would be nice for AvareX to have the same ability to use a "Private Server" that Avare does.

Thanks for any help, and thanks to the developers for all their efforts on both Avare and AvareX.

Thanks for all the help.
I have been able to reproduce the vanishing tiles on the map. It's because of weather. There is just too many icons on weather page. If you turn off weather from layers, then map should just load fine.
Other bugs are also reproduced and will be looked into.

The button to the left of the layers button is for measuring between points.  Click the button, then go to the map and click the first point (upper left circled X), then click the second point (lower right circled X) and it gives you the distance and heading between the two point.  If you click a third point it gives you distance/heading between the second and third points, etc., etc., if you want to keep clicking on the map.
