I have been playing with Avare on a phone.
I put in a flight plan that I have flown many times.

Departure Airport
Navaid
Airport offset 350 degrees 10nm
Destination airport

I don't see a way to set that offset from that airport, this is to keep clear of restricted areas.
Is there a way to set a waypoint at 350 degrees 10NM from a navaid or airport?
My 12 year old Garmin GPS3 Pilot had that.
Maybe I am missing something.

I don't think you can do an offset for an airport but you can do it for a navaid

For example the SAX (Sparta VOR) 10 miles on the 275 radial you would enter SAX275010 and Avare would put "41.0451&-74.7572" as a GPS waypoint in your flight plan, you could also put the LAT/Long directly in your flight plan using the same nomenclature that Avare generated in my example.

That does work. It's a little rough. I should be able to name a waypoint and then save it in the plan, but it does work.
Thanks

That is correct and I suspect it's to allow us to elide the leading "K" when specifying the airport identifier.  In many cases there is a navaid with the same three-letter identifier which can be quite a distance from the airport.

You can get close by long-pressing on the general area but it's not very precise and requires that you have that chart downloaded.  For a long trip, that's a lot of zooming in and out.  And since I don't anticipate having ADS-B/out anytime soon, much of my flight planning will involve "fly to a point tangent to a nnNM ring around Kxyz".

Personally, I always specify an airport ID by its full string because the vast majority of the places to which I fly have IDs that don't start with "K".  So if that "feature" went away and we were required to input the full ID in order to discriminate between aerodrome and navaid, I wouldn't mind.  At which point, one would think that allowing "aerodrome/radial/nm" waypoint entry would be a SMOP.

Perhaps it could depend on a user setting.

Regardless, it would be nice to be able to name such a point for later use, but that's a different issue.
