I am having trouble moving my data between tablets.  I can download my data to the "download" file of a tablet, and then I can upload the same file back into the same tablet.  The problem comes when I take the download file and move it to a different tablet and then try to import it.  The second tablet can not see the moved files, even though they are in the same file structure, and therefore can not import the files.  Both of my tablets are Samsung models.  Both work very well with Avare by themselves.  Any one have any ideas why the exported files from one tablet become invisible to Avare upon import to a different tablet?
Many thanks.

Sharing anything between Android devices seems to be getting more difficult with each new version of either Android or Avare. I blame Google, fwiw. I'm struggling with a different aspect of this hassle today it turns out, so I'm going to post a feature request under a different topic: "Copy/Paste Avare Data?" Speaking of which, this topic (Sharing files between computers) gave me the impression it's about desktop or laptop computers rather than tablets or phones.

For your particular question, it may be helpful to specify what specific data you'd like to transfer between tablets. Different categories of Avare's data files seem to be stored and handled differently. If all of these various files contain plain text, maybe my "Copy/Paste Avare Data?" feature request would help if it's easy for the Dev Team to add in a future release.

Hi Bruce
What data are you export and importing ?
I tried Preferences and W&B, Plans etc. They all work across tablets.
Tab 1 export any data from IO-Tools-Import/Export.
Share data from Tab 1 using Bluetooth sharing to Tab 2. To do this locate the zip file exported and select share on it using Files menu.
From Tab 2 accept the file sharing using Bluetooth.
Now import the Bluetooth transferred zip file from Tab 2 IO-Tools-Import/Export.

Thanks John and App,

I appreciate your input.

To answer your questions, I am exporting using the Tools option of "Plans, checklists, WP, WNB".  I export these files from Tab 1 to Tab 1, where it is stored under the "Download" subdirectory.  Then, I move the file from there to my desktop computer via a USB cable.  I then connect Tab 2 to the same desktop via a USB cable and move the zip file to the "Download" subdirectory of Tab 2.  To make certain the file is in the right subdirectory of Tab 2, I also export a test (dummy) set of "Plans, etc." from Tab 2 to Tab 2 to see where Tab 2 will be looking for the files I want to import.   My files management app shows both files in the "Download" subdirectory of Tab 2.  However, when I try to import the zip file, Tab 2 does not show the zip file that was imported from Tab 1. But, Tab 2 does show the "dummy" file.  It is as though the exporting process somehow puts a tag in my zip file that will not allow it to be imported back into a second computer by making it invisible to the import app.  I am wonder if this isn't Google's way of preventing file/app sharing between tablets?  Would transferring files by Bluetooth make any difference?

Thanks again, guys.  I fear this could turn out to be a significant problem for a lot of Avare loyal users.

Best

Try with BT.
I bet your PC is adding an extension to the file.

I'm reviving an old thread. Running Avare 11.0.5 on 3 devices;
1. Motorola 5g Stylus (2002) on Android 13
2. Asus ZenPad S 8.0 on Android 6! (and awesome)
3. brand new phone Samsung S25FE on Android 16
I want to move the app preferences from #1 or #2 to #3 Samsung S25 FE

I'm using the app path; Main tab IO, Tools, Export data function & Preferences function
I get an outputted [Avare_mmm_dd_yyyy-zulutimestamp.zip] file with destination output location Google Drive and the file is saved.
Using the app path; Main tab IO, Tools, Import data function, I always get the failure, [Error Import]
Further, I am unable to extract the output file in any tool (Android File Manager, Windows 10) I've tried.
Is there a resolution to move tried & true [Preferences] to a new device?
Thank you.
