AvareX and Older Android Tablets?

I am interested to know the system requirements for AvareX.  Looking here on the forum and at the readme on github I've not found documentation of that information. Thanks to any who can point me toward information to fill in the blank. 

 I am just starting to get familiar with Avare and like it a great deal, especially that it doesn't require the latest, greatest, upgraded hardware.   My installation is on a Samsung Galaxy S 8.4 running Android 6.0.1.   I'm using that particular tablet based on information from this forum and it's working very well.  

Having survived a 40+ year career working on the hardware technical side with a number of computer systems manufacturers, I know that time and technology march on. Being retired though I am no fan of rapidly advancing obsolescence.  I hope that Avare has significant product life left and intend to donate in support of its continued availability. Failing that, I do hope AvareX will be supported on older hardware.

Bill,

There have been postings in the past about Android versions.  right now if your tablet is registered and running 6.0.1 you should be ok, if for some reason you need to re-register your tablet you will find that you are unable to due to the current encryption standards that are not supported on Andriod 7.0.x and earlier.

Jeff, Thanks for the reply, but it didn't answer my question. 

I am curious to see AvareX and just want to know the generation of hardware and Android version required.
Search of the forum for AvareX didn't turn up the answer, so prompted my post.

Avare is running fine on the older tablet that is dedicated for that purpose.
It was an inexpensive buy and stays in the airplane. 
I don't know why it would need to be re-registered, and I am happy using it as long as it does the job.

Hi Bill,

I'm not sure there is an answer to your question yet.  AvareX is still beta, and though becoming stable, even the devs and core testers don't have a lot of experience on it with regard to memory required, disk space, etc.  I don't think it is dramatically different, but we haven't found use cases where hardware is limiting. However, I think the oldest tablet used in testing is based on android 8(?).

Jeff's answer may have seemed off, but in fact it still probably points to the correct answer.  To be able to register/use the new app, you will likely require a version of Android that supports google's current encryption requirements. (Note these encryption protocols are industry standards, google has just decided to enforce more recent standards as the old ones had become insecure.)

Thanks, that gives the picture of the situation. It's understandable that AvareX might require newer or more resources. I was curious and couldn't find that info.  I'll be waiting to see how it develops.
