Just got the attached UUID error for one out of four books. Reporting was on high. Changed to medium, still there, Changed to low and it disappeared. The book still exports to kpf and epub, which are what I need. Any thoughts? (I know next to nothing about html coding.)

Hi Jerry,

A uuid is an identifier that is a series of hexadecimal groups, e.g.

urn:uuid:234a1c5e-6b31-4ae7-9d37-38a429330ae6

A fix would be to blank out the Identifier field in your project medatadata (click Edit, then in the Metadata tab, find Identifier and remove the value). Jutoh will then use the "Identifier" value in the current configuration, which should be in the above form. If you wish to regenerate the UUID (for example, if your project was copied from another project and therefore uses the same identifier) you can delete the value of Identifier in your *configuration(s)*, then save and close the project, and open it again. You should now see a new UUID in your configuration, and if your metadata Identifier is blank, the configuration's Identifier value will be used in the generated file, and this should fix the Epubcheck warning.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Julian

That worked, Julian. Thank you. The number for identifier, which also was coming up  in the error when compiled,  was the book's ISBN. I deleted it from the metadata and "no errors" was the result! JK

Hi Jerry,

Glad that worked. I forgot to say that if you want to use your ISBN as the book identifier, you can click on "..." next to Identifier in the project metadata, click the first "Add" button, and choose "Add ISBN" from the drop-down menu. Now you can type the ISBN into the "Value" field of the new set of attributes, and delete Identifier1 which is now redundant. This somewhat arcane-seeming system allows you to have different identifiers using different schemas, for the same book, but usually you only need one kind of identifier: however you do need to specify what kind of an identifier it is, hence the "opf:schema=ISBN" attribute.

Regards,

Julian

Just added ISBN to all books though one had it already. No recollection of how or when I did it!
