Hi,

Please help me with how to remove stop words (such as: if, they, are, is, etc.)., so that I can make most meaning out of my data.
And also how to work with negative keywords.

Hi Shefali,

For stop words, you need to add a stop list in the Word List preferences.

For negative keywords, you need to activate the option in the Keyword List preferences.

I hope that helps!

Laurence.

Dear Anthony and group,
I embarked today on the Antconc section of the course and tackled a new problem:
My student installed the right version of antconc (windows, we tried also with windows64) and uploaded the files, but pressing start on the file view or word list led to nothing. We tried a short English text, just to verify that the problem was not the languge, encoding or length, and still nothing happened.
Is this a dependency issue? what could we do to try and fix this?
Many thanks,

Laurence Anthony

Hi,

I expect that the file name or full-path to the file is the problem. Can you try running AntConc and a test file called "test.txt" from the root of a USB stick. If that works, clearly the path is the problem.

I hope that helps.

Exactly! that was the problem - some directory on the path that was named in Hebrew.
Many thanks for the quick and helpful response,
Sinai and Ofri
