Managing tags

Hello, dear professor. I am a PhD student from Uzbekistan. I tagged my texts manually, then I installed AntConc 4.3.1 version. When I search tag words are also appearing. I wanted to hide the tags, but couldn't. I installed the old version 3.5.9 but when I searched nothing appeared. Does the new version have this feature? Could you please give advice on this matter?

Hi Gulzoda,

If your tags are of the format WORD_TAG, WORD_TAG, then you can load your files into AntConc using the Corpus Manager, setting the indexer to the "simple_word_tag_headword_indexer" option. Then, the tags will be automatically processed so you can hide them or search for them later, as you need. Everything is documented in the help page.

Thank you for your response. My tags are in this format [tag]word[/tag]. Does it work if I do as you instructed?

Hi,

If that is the format, the indexer won't work.  But, you can ignore the tags, using the token definition setting in the Corpus Manager. Use the "Ignore Non-Embedded Tags" option. This is actually very similar to the setting in AntConc 3.5.9.
