upgrading to ansible 2.0

I'm trying to upgrade from ansible 1.9 to ansible 2.0 and I noticed that this kind of syntax is breaking:

set other_name = app_account | d().name | d() 

but if I change it to set other_name = ( app_account|d() ).name | d() it will work so my question is do I have to change |d(). and surround it with parenthesis with whatever variable before it to make it work?
