vmware_vm_inventory plugin, how is it supposed to be used ?

It does work, it lists the VMs (including UUID) from vCenter. So far, so good.

But then? How are you supposed to obtain their DNS name or IP in order to be able to actually connect to them (i.e. use them as hosts)

I've looked at the plugin a little more closely just now, and it looks to be missing this functionality completely. I've logged an issue for this at https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/50249
