After walking on an unfused ankle for 20 years I am just a few month away from it being 1 year since my revision fusion/subtailor fusion and I am having pain in my achellis when I walk.  Does anyone else have this pain?  If so what are you doing to help it?

i have to stretch Achilles everyday or I notice pain and stiffness.  I have had Achilles lengthening surgery and ankle fusion.  I have started noticing some pain across the top of my foot which is new and I am wondering where that is coming from.

I'm confused about the unfused ankle.  Is it the one that didn't have surgeries?

I had 2 ankle fusions and had 2 more.  One ankle surgeon couldn't diagnose me and I changed doctors.  The new one said there was only one joint in trouble and he did surgery on it.  The pain across the top of my foot didn't go away and I had a different surgeon do surgery the next year.  4 years out, I have very little pain if I don't overuse the foot.

I hope you find relief for your foot.  Life is so much better pain free.

I have had a subtalar fusion and a subtalar revision surgery as well as gastroc recession and tendon surgery. The pain on the top of my foot is from osteopenia. Maybe there is a issue with your metatarsal. Hope you feel better.

I didn't know  you could get foot pain from osteopenia.  But it makes sense since there are bones there.

Bones with osteopenia can fracture easily.

Oh, I had no idea, but again that makes sense.  I have to be very careful walking, even around the house.  Ever since my last 2 surgeries, my gait has been wobbly.  Sometimes I stumble a bit.

I lose my balance as well.  Walking on grass I might as well forget it.

Maybe the reason I fractured my ankle 8 years ago and then a second fracture two years ago caused my screws to fail resulting in a fused in Jan 2022.
I have pain in the Achilles, the bottom of my heel, and lower shin. I have to have my cane with me 90% of the time. I can't do half the things I used to. Quite a blow for a grandpa with 9 grandchildren.

Walking on grass-thing of the past unless it's someone else's lawn and it's flat as anything.  My husband thinks I can walk the dog, but I think it's asking for  broken ankle/leg.  Our little dog pulls on the leash in his hurry to begin a walk.  I'd fall down the 2 kitchen steps for a starter.  I can take him on the patio and watch him run which is plenty good enough for me.

There are so many things I can't do anymore like tap dancing.  I started classes as a senior and enjoyed them immensely.  Good thing I still have my memories of those happy days.
