I had my subtalar fusion in May 2019 and it was the best thing I did. I was 25 at the time and had very painful arthritis from a broken ankle and a surgery to remove a piece of bone. I could barely walk for almost a year and after standing all day from work (8-10 hours a day) if I sat down I would not be able to walk after I stood up and any bump in the wrong way brought me to tears, and even at work. When I had my surgery it was painful at the first moment especially when I put my put down after elevation but it was so worth the pain for the comfort I got after healing. I get to physio now and again to stretch my calves and because I have secondary cuboid arthritis in my foot but it’s manageable in comparison to having a stable painless ankle. Just need to make sure you do everything right with elevation, not walking on it until you are suppose to and it should be a smooth ride. Everyone’s different I guess with healing but it was very worth the surgery pain over daily pain.
Good luck with your decision.
