Hi there!
Sorry to hear that - if you haven't yet, you might try our latest releases from the 2.16 series, you may try a parallel .A build from our releases page just to see if the crash is fixed already, I've gotten a *lot* of comments on play store and here recently about similar crashes and typically the new release works.
My AnkiDroid keeps crashing when trying to add a new note. I tried on both my tablet and phone: same thing.
Help? Thank you!

First, I'm really happy to hear that you have at least one path forward now. That's a great result
Second, I am sorry that it is messy right now, with the 2 installs. Any way you mention will actually work. The two versions are sharing the same storage and both can sync, so it should be fine. The play store *will* eventually get a 2.16 version, and update your 2.15.6, yes.
It might be best to just use one version though, if the
parallel.A version of 2.16alpha is working for you, I would just
use it, including syncing, until 2.16 releases for real. And of
course please report any errors / incorrect behavior you see via
our issue tracker. The 2.16 development series is working well (we
think!) but has a very large number of changes since 2.15 so
perhaps there is something wrong that we have not seen yet
Cheers -
-Mike
