Hi All,

I use Anki on Windows 7 and on my Android. On PC I'm only adding new cards and on Android I review them.
I haven't added new cards for about a month, so both my Anki's were not being synchronized. I tried to do that few days ago and I have been unable to do it from my Android, however synchronization from PC works ok.

Error (AnkiDroid):
When I'm in the view of all decks and try "Synchronize All" I get an error saying that time on server is different by 3639 seconds (about an hour). However, my PC time is the same (and the sync is ok). How can I change or check the time on my AnkiWeb? I don't see any time there.

I will appreciate any help.

Regards,
Tatjew

Hello Tatjew:

The error is likely that you do not have the time set up correctly on your device.
In particular, you probably have set up the wrong time zone.
This is the phone settings (not AnkiDroid's), usually under time and date.

Could you have a look and make sure the time zone is set correctly?

Thanks
-Flavio

Ok. The problem was that the time on my phone was changed manually.

On my PC I had pure GMT+1.
On my Android I had GMT+0 which I manually switched to GMT+1.
So effectively time on both devices was the same, but timezones were not.
I changed the phone's time to "raw" GMT+1 and now it is syncing properly.

Thanks

I am also having the same problem. There is nothing wrong with my clock settings, the software won't even start. Perhaps the software developer should sort this problem out. It seems a little unreasonable to expect people to be messing around with their clocks. You could at least allow the user to override the issue if it is not of concern. (mine is 320 seconds out apparently, although I don't see how.)

Hi unfortunately there's not much we can do about this issue...
Could you please make sure the setting "Automatic date & time" and "Automatic time zone" is enabled in Date & Time settings of Android?

To anyone running android on a samsung galaxy tablet, here's how I solved my problem:

I noticed that my laptop had my time zone listed as central time [-6]. On the tablet central time was listed as [-5]. I set the tablet to central time anyway even though it had the wrong value, then overrode the time by setting the clock an hour behind (which was the correct time). It then synced!

Jesus, Anki, no collaboration feature, no time zone difference.

Impossible to even work on the same account with other people in different parts of the world. Not taking advantage of globalisation and the lack of network power. Some company (Google, MS, Adobe anyone!) please buy Anki from Damian and AnkiDroid and make it proprietary and paid software or seek VC funding.

Hey Xiao, learn to code and fix it all for free =) Or make your own perfect perfect system and sell it to users for $1000 dollars a pop.

Making it proprietary would be against the terms of the license... one could sell a derivative work, but you'd have to release the source code.

Without a profit maximizing business strategy, Anki will never be able to attract and  maintain talented software developers. You're one of the exceptions, most people don't work for free.

Just to let you know, my copy has started working now. Not sure why or how but it's no longer complaining about the time zone. Thanks for creating the software. Seems like a great idea.

I am experiencing the same issue on my windows 8.1.  the clock is set properly, in the correct time zone, and yet anki is saying i'm out by 10979 seconds.  I can't fix it, or even have a work around. Honestly, can we get a fix for this?
