TrackBy With *ngFor

Hello Friends. Has anyone had troble using TrackBy with *ngFor if the Object data is coming from a service. Most examples that I have found use hard coded data. Its as if Angular doesn't recognize anything that I try to do with TrackBy. I dont know if I am missing an Import statement.
