Provide viewing and editing of word document in angular application.

We got a legacy application, which displays word documents using activex technology only in IE.

The whole application is being migrated to angular 8. But the active x control is only supported in IE, and not on all browsers.

We have to provide viewing and editing of word documents in angular application.

How can we achieve this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Manoj,

You can integrate with office365, and use the online version of Word to display your documents.

A simpler way might be to use the MS word viewer in an iframe using this as an url:

https://view.officeapps.live.com/op/embed.aspx?src=http://remote.url.tld/path/to/document.doc'

Hi Sander,

Have checked this, but it has limitation with size. And it does not provide any editing capability.

Hi Manoj,

There is a fully working word available online, I'm pretty sure MS made some integrations possible there. Have a look at the Offcie365 API.
