[checkbox::tristate] What is the indeterminate state

What is the indeterminate state of a checkbox in angular? In terms of back end model, CSharp, for instance, I might represent that as a _nullable Boolean_, `bool?`. Would null inform the view model and views accordingly? Understanding, of course, components, component libraries, performance may vary, but typically, at any rate. Thanks...
