Hello.

Laptop's physical keyboard is not working on Acer Aspire E5-411 after install Android-x86 9.0-rc2 and 8.1-r3. I tested both. I installed as usual, then I rebooted into Android-x86. The physical keyboard is not working. There is one interesting thing: I reinstalled 9.0-rc3 for third time, but, I didn't rebooted but ran Android-x86 after the installation process finished. The results: the laptop's physical keyboard was working just fine. It appears as "AT Keyboard..." or something in the Setting app, but, when I rebooted and start once again then there is no more keyboard (ggrrrrrrr).

Is there a way to manually activate this? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks.

If there is some the developers want me to do, then ask me.

Did you try to boot in debug mode? Does it make any difference?

Michael.

Hello, Michael.

It worked! I booted with DEBUG=1 kernel command line and the physical keyboard worked. Well, I know that is the "developer solution" but not the "stable solution", but it is more than nothing.

Thank you.

Do you know the path to go through in order to get a "stable solution". Where should I start to look?

In debug mode, kernel drivers are loaded differently than in normal mode. If you can figure out which module is needed, than you can add EXTMOD=... to the kernel command line. I would try with EXTMOD=atkbd first. Other pointers that may help figuring this out:
- dumpsys input
- cat /proc/bus/input/devices

Michael.
