Hi All.

Does anybody experiments with the Android Automotive UI in Android 9? I'd like to use this UI in one of my tablets but not sure how to get it.

Thanks

Thanks.

Downloaded but seems to be the flashfiles, I'm not sure of how to build a live environment with the downloaded files. Just to try before........

Hi Prakash.

Thanks for the info, great initiative......

In my case I'm not so ambituos, and I'm not planning to use a Simulator, no android automotive API to use in my case by now. I run android-x86 in my old Chuwi vx8 32 for a long time, working good, only GPS (built in broadcom GPS chip that I got to load a kernel driver from Android-IA but I don't know how to activate via rfkill) is not integrated,, but I workaround using a USBGPS, and  BT HFP client.

I got the HFP and PhoneBook profiles working (tested by a sample apk) but no stable apk to manage this profiles are available. Thats mainly why I want to test Android automotive because AFAIK this function is OOTB with the Automotive UI (you can tell).

Thats why I ask if Android-x86 Pie can compile the aosp_car_x86-userdebug target.

Speaking about SW architecture I came across this info..... really interesting.

Thanks

Intel does it all as part of its Celadon project. The project includes configurations for both the tablet and the car computer. Intel also added acceleration of neural networks to this project using its CPU, GPU and specialized module (Movidius Neural Compute Stick). Apparently they want to interest car manufacturers in an open system based on their chips.

Yes, but it seems to be part of google android code also, not only celadon. (i'm referering to Automotive UI)
Maybe Chih-Wei can clarify if it's also part of Android-x86 Pie code.

Hi.

I've found this in the android-x86.xml file in the pie branch manifest.

 <remove-project name="device/generic/car" />

So I guess the source is not included by default, I'm not used to compile the whole source only kernels so I need to ask,,,,, If I modified or comment this line in the local and sync the repo, maybe I can compile the target or I must do anything more?

Thanks

Thanks fguy.

Unfortunately I'm not very used to the project structure in Android (Celadon or whatever), So I ask for help.

What I need to edit/change to have a new target (car UI) in Android-x86 project structure that allow me to try a compilation?

Thanks
