Hello. I just reinstalled Android x86 9.0 on my computer and I'm having trouble enabling the native bridge. It won't download the libraries properly, I end up with a libraries 9_y file that's only 819 bytes big. I've been using Android x86 for about two months, I've reinstalled several times for a variety of reasons and never had this issue before.
I was wondering if others are having the same issue, or if it's something on my end.

All downloads work fine for me.

Check the 3rd post of this thread. The poster is in China and the download is blocked by the firewall.

Thank you for the replies, although I'm still stumped. I don't believe I have the same issue as that Chinese user. I'm not behind any firewall to my knowledge, I'm not in China or anywhere where Google is banned. I can browse websites on Chrome and access Gmail just fine, the appstore also works just fine, I can download and install apps. Also in my case the native bridge option in the settings does not turn itself off, it stays on as if Android believes it has downloaded the libraries file. And there is a file 9_y in the download folder, but it's obviously incomplete/too small.
I have tried this with both 64 and 32 bit versions of 9.0, same issue on both. I also tried using both my home wifi and my phone's mobile data hotspot, again same issue on both. I even tried running Android x86 on a different computer (I normally use it on my desktop, tried it on my laptop for this) and again I had the same issue, it downloads a tiny file that doesn't do anything.
I had this working just recently. As I said above, I've been using 9.0 for months and it always worked fine, in previous installations I enabled native bridge in the settings and it downloaded the file and enabled apps to function. Today it decided to no longer work. My setup is still exactly the same, so I was hoping it was some issue with the download itself.
I see another user talking about a similar issue here (https://groups.google.com/g/android-x86/c/AQJrMU1tVY0), just hours before I posted mine, so perhaps it's not only me, though he didn't provide any details.

Is there maybe an alternative download for the 9_y libraries that I could then place on my downloads folder manually? Would that even work? I googled around but couldn't find anything.

Here a bit of an update. I looked into the tiny file that being downloaded, turns out it's an html file containing only two lines of text:

如需浏览,请长按网址复制后使用浏览器访问

http://dl.android-x86.org/houdini.php?v=9_y

I can't read the Chinese, but the link is a download to the houdini.sfs which I suppose is the actual libraries. I don't know how to install the file manually though, suppose it must be done through the terminal which I'm not savvy with. Pretty sure this should be automatic anyway, it was before.

I hold off on actually running any of the script you get from that link and wait for the site admin to confirm. It's basically saying (my simplified Chinese is pretty bad) if you want to view the content, copy and paste the URL into a browser.

Mine  works fine

Maybe it’s a wired download

IIRC, enable script uses goo.gl, maybe that isn't working properly. I've checked and downloads are not blocked by the Great Firewall.

i downloaded the file, activated the bridge, copied the file to the "arm" folder and renamed it to "houdini9_y.sfs.

Thank you Christian, that worked. Surprisingly simple solution.
I suppose I'll keep a backup of the file from now on in case I need to reinstall again.

Unfortunately the URLs in t.cn don't work anymore.
Will update it next release.
Thank you for pointing this out.
