Hi all,

I have a device with Wifi and Ethernet and both work quite fine with DHCP.

Nevertheless I've got the case where I have a network connected to the Ethernet Adapter without DHCP server, so I would like to configure static IP adress on this interface, but the menu does not appear in "Wifi & Networks" ... "More" ...

Any help or hints would be appreciated.

Cheers
Frédéric

As far as I can remember you just have to press and hold the network name and and go to manage settings. Then just click the advanced options button and change it from dhcp to static. I know this will work for wifi....not sure about ethernet. As long as you can see it in connections then try the same steps as wifi

Ethernet support in Android is very rudimentary, especially in regular phone/tablet Android (Android TV devices usually have somewhat better support) IIRC, Android only supports DHCP for Ethernet. Only WiFi supports static IPs.
It's possible to emulate a WiFi card using Ethernet, I'm currently working on adding this feature to Android x86.

Hi,

thanks for your support. I recently found some sort of workaround that really works. When you install also TvSettings app you will be able to launch IP settings for Ethernet with the Intent "am start -a com.intent.MAIN com.android.tv.settings/com.android.tv.settings.connectivity.NetworkActivity". You will be able to set DHCP as well as static IP for eth0.

So it's a pitty but I think my PM will also decide to take the code fromout TvSettings and implement it properly in Settings App. Do you have a glue when your implementation will be finished ?

Best regards
Frédéric

I have the emulator working already on my test machine, just need to fix a few minor bugs before uploading a test build.
Emulating WiFi using Ethernet will require disabling existing physical WiFi though as AFAIK Android does not support multiple WiFi cards.
