Hello,

I am trying to create a reading plan and have it appear in AndBible (using version 4.0), but am not able to do it.  The wiki page says "create the properties file and import it" but the app would not import the file, and anyway, it looks like a companion .conf file is needed (to provide the information on the reading plan in their list, etc.).

What I did was, create a .zip with the module structure and the .properties and .conf files

  adding: mods.d/ (stored 0%)
  adding: mods.d/SieversReadingPlan.conf (deflated 39%)
  adding: modules/ (stored 0%)
  adding: modules/texts/ (stored 0%)
  adding: modules/texts/ztext/ (stored 0%)
  adding: modules/texts/ztext/SieversReadingPlan/ (stored 0%)
  adding: modules/texts/ztext/SieversReadingPlan/SieversReadingPlan.properties

Then I tried all of these: "Download documents" > "load from .zip" , "Backup > load document from zip...", open any built-in reading plan > three dots > "Import reading plan".  But no avail, the reading plan would not appear.

The config file is:

[SieversReadingPlan]
DataPath=./modules/texts/ztext/SieversReadingPlan/
Version=1.0
Description=Reading Plan for the Sievers seminar
ShortPromo=Selection of readings to help you grow in the Spirit.
DistributionLicense=Public Domain
Category=Bible Reading Plan
ModDrv=zText
Versification=KJV
AndBibleMinimumVersion=319
AndBibleProvidesReadingPlan=SieversReadingPlan.properties
AndBibleReadingPlanDateBased=False

Could anyone point me to a right direction?

Thanks,
Premek

Hi Premek,

It looks like you're very close. Please try it with this conf file for an example.

I think the Category must be "And Bible", and not sure if ModDrv makes a difference, but you can try it like the linked conf file has it.

You should be able to import it through both "Load from zip", and "Import reading plan", but after loading/importing make sure to exit out of reading plan screen once and then you should be able to see the plan when you reopen it.

You can skip the last line (DateBased) if it's false, but it should not hurt to have that line.

Kind regards,

Hi Timmy,

thanks for that hint, it seems to have helped :)  The way the app imports the updates for a reading plan is a bit quirky/buggy but it works, so what is left now for me is to sit down and type in the plan :)

BTW, I tried to dig through the whole github repo of And Bible and could not find a trace of the config files for the built-in plans.  Where do they hide, would anyone know?

God bless,
Premek

Hi Premek, the built-in plans do not have a config file. We started supporting config file in 4.0 since that's the format of existing modules. The jsword folder with only properties file also still works pre-android-10.

Kind regards,
Timmy

Feel free to create PR about your reading plans addon module  towards https://github.com/AndBible/special-modules if you would like to share your work with others.
