Click here     Hi Elaine I’m incredibly disappointed with the recent news regarding #RaiseTheAge. As I’m sure you are too. I’ve been campaigning on this issue for 16 years and governments across Australia have put off making a decision on raising the age of criminal responsibility yet again. This is a devastating outcome as every day that a child is in prison, it’s a day that they are further harmed. That’s why I’m reaching out to you to email the Attorney-General, calling on him to raise the age as soon as possible. ACT NOW: EMAIL CHRISTIAN PORTER Last Monday, it was decided that further work needed to be done before governments could make a decision on raising the age. However, there is still hope. If the government can form and resource a Working Group with a deadline of 6 months to report back, then that’s a big step towards kids not being locked up. It’s an absolute tragedy that the practice of imprisoning children has been in place for so long. I can’t even begin to imagine how traumatic this has been for both the kids and their families. We can’t allow another year to pass and for more children to be caught up in the quicksand of the justice system. Please join me in making sure that the federal Attorney-General acts sooner rather than later on raising the age of criminal responsibility. Call on Christian Porter to raise the age as soon as possible. Thank you for your support. We have come so far in our fight for giving kids the future they deserve, and we won’t stop until we have challenged this injustice.   PS. Prison is no place for a child and it’s difficult to comprehend the bleak outcome that this practice has placed on already disadvantaged children. Together, we can keep up the momentum to #RaiseTheAge.
