I have not played with my original unit since around 2020.

I decided I would upgrade to the latest firmware. I am able to flash it, but I can not see any files on the SD card at all.

I downgraded back to the version from 2020, and I can again use the SD card.

Did something change with the default configuration of the newer units where the firmware would be imcompatible?

How did you upload the new software, with the Arduino IDE or the precompiled binary file from my site?

Precompiled binary with upload.bat.  With 1/26 version, it comes up but sees no SD card anymore at all. Go back to 2020 version and it works again.
I assume some signals changed or something?

Functionality has been added since 2020 but I'm not aware of anything that would remove the SD functionality.  How are you assessing the functionality of the SD card?

Activating switch 12 and pushing down AUX2 does nothing, no file list.
Going into the menu shows no SD file management choice, and going into floppy mounting and pressing 0,1,2,3 etc. does nothing.

My kit is original version, so I don't have the VT100 or any expansion. I figured maybe the default options in the standard build changed.

Ok, that's confirms the SD is not working.  I guess we'll have to wait for David to chime in.  There's no reason I know the SD card wouldn't work.

I attempted to use a couple of different SD cards to see if it made any difference.

Strangely, if I format a card as FAT32 (my original was a 2GB FAT-formatted card) the manage SD card options then show up in the menu, but a directory shows no files, even though they are there, and you can't mount anything.

I am not exactly sure what the issue is, but I compiled from the source with the Arduino IDE and everything works fine now.

The problem is usually somebody compiling the software with the wrong version of the SD Card library, but you said the version that didn't work was a download. Where did you get it from, exactly

Use another version of SDfat library, I had problems.with newer versions of that library.

I hope it solve your problem.

What color is your Arduino?  I see you bought this in 2018, so that was fairly close to the beginning.  I can't think of a reason it doesn't work, but that is an 8 year old design.

Yeah, it's not a big deal. I went through the procedure to build it and upload with the Arduino IDE and that all worked fine, so I don't know what it is about that distro on the web site. It is a good bit larger than when I build it, but maybe that is because of the bus IO part that I did not include. That is the only thing really that could be interfering I guess, because I think I enabled everything else including all the serial options.
