Hi,

I have my microSD card setup to load CP/M with A12, A3, A2 and A1 UP and AUX1 DOWN

I get my CP/M drives loaded;
DISK1C.DSK
DISK19.DSK
DISK1A.DSK
DISK1B.DSK

But is there a way to flip over to an Altair BASIC on the fly or should I make a new microSD card with an Altair setup?

Then to get started, what DISK's and order of DSK's is a good starting place?

Use menu presets to save different configurations.

Then you can start the system with the disks you want pre-loaded.

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand "use menu presets" ...

Currently I keep the A12, A3, A2 and A1 UP all the time so when I turn ON the Altair-Duino Pro I just press down the AUX1 switch and it loads CP/M and I'm ready to play with that environment and MBASIC.

But can I just load a different DSK into drive B: or C: or D: than what is already loaded?

Then how do I switch to use the program on    "01101) DISK0D.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk Basic programs DSK?"

Do I have to load    "01100) DISK0C.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk Basic"    first replacing the    "CP/M 00001) DISK01.DSK: CP/M (63k)?"

or maybe just load    "01100) DISK0C.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk Basic"    first replacing the    "CP/M 00001) DISK01.DSK: CP/M (63k)?"

Using the toggle switches after booting on CP/M default DSK's;
I tried replace Disk0 with loading the    "01100) DISK0C.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk Basic"    first, but didn't get any prompt.

So I tried replace Disk0 with loading the    "01100) DISK0C.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk Basic"    but still didn't get a prompt.

Hi,

Okay, I think I got it now ... I found the answer in the  Load Altair Mini-Disk BASIC | Adwater & Stir (adwaterandstir.com) page.  I originally thought that was for the real hardware, rather than the microSD card drives.

Ever so slowly moving forward ...  Thanks Tom ...

Hi,

I may have spoke too soon.  The basic    "00101) DISK05.DSK: Games (CP/M programs)"  loads and I can see a directory of filenames, but when I try    "01111) DISK0F.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk DOS programs"    and    "01110) DISK0E.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk DOS"   All I get is the following;

[mounted disk image 'DISK0E.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk DOS' in drive 0]
[mounted disk image 'DISK0F.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk DOS programs' in drive 1]
[Running Disk boot ROM]

For some reason you're loading Altair DOS, not Disk BASIC. Make sure you have the correct two disks in the correct drives DISK0C and DISK0D NOT disks 0E and 0F. If you've already checked that, then
make sure in step 4 to put the fourth switch up (that's switch 3 in the instructions, which start with 0) If you are sure you have the correct switch up, try downloading the disk images again.

Hi,

This is all I get when I only mount Disk0C;  PIP       STARTREK  Shouldn't there be more programs on the disks?

[mounted disk image 'DISK0C.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk Basic' in drive 0]
[mounted disk image 'DISK0D.DSK: Altair Mini-Disk Basic programs' in drive 1]

Not on the BASIC disk, there aren't. PIP and STARTREK are it.
Remember, these are a lot smaller than the 8" floppies, not only physically but in the amount of data they can hold.
You'll have to run the games from Drive 1.
