We should learn some lessons from the following story and avoid doing similar mistakes in our efforts to plant 10 Billion Trees in Pakistan. We must look beyond Eucalyptus, Conocarpus, and Dodonaea plantations. There are plenty of good substitutes for these trees, but we prefer quick fixes rather than planning and executing tree plantations in a more ecologically and biodiversity friendly way. Let us not be driven by targets but by objectives.
