Hello, I'm new in meahroom, but I have good knowledge of 3d scanning in general.

does meahroom support rotated the object? As in if I took several pictures of an object, then I rotated the object to reveal the underside of it then took some more! I'm testing it right now but I'm getting some mixed issues!

It's the first rule for 3d-scanning - not to move anything. If you rotate the object, but the background stays untouched, then all the next shots have to be treated as a new dataset. So, the only way you can use it, is to create another set of views (actually new MR project), and then combine the results from both in external program. It's also possible to mask background though (see the turntable tutorial in the MR docs).

I see, I'll look into it. Thanks.

Hello everyone,

Just a few words to indicate that with Meshroom, it is indeed possible to do full scan of a complete object using a rotating table and one or more than one camera.

You can find a tutorial for archaeological objects written by Alban Brice Pimpaud, unfortunately only in french for the moment.

That needs a bit of twicking but the result is clean while doing the full modeling pipeline only in Meshroom.

Enjoy!

Hello Philippe,

Thanks for the replay, but just one note, I'm not asking if it possible to rotate the table/stand I'm saying that after let's say 40 image from all sides (all around, top, etc,) I flip the object to reveal the hidden part, take more pictures and then try to process it!
Can meshroom stitch the first orientation of the object with the new orientation knowing that there are matching feature points with the 2 setups!

Thanks.

Yes Yousef, I perfectly understood your question. And what Alban proposes should make an easier processing for you.

That's what Alban explains in his "Production de l’objet entier" part. That means "processing of the complete object" and it uses the SfMAlignement node as explained.

When scanning an archaeological fragment, we need a model of all the sides of the object in the hope to make a reconstruction with different pieces.

That is why using the targets is important. And first to keep both sides of the object at the same scale.

Hoping this helps.
