Run query against Druid Database

Hi Superset team,

I have some experience in metabase and now comparing Superset with it. I am trying to run Druid union query (against 2 datasource/tables) in superset and could not find where to run customize json query. Is there any place I can run native json query?

For Druid, the only thing I can do is select one data source in Druid and can do dice/slice data. Also, Is there any option in Superset where I can choose multiple datasource/tables in interactive mode?

Hi Tariq,

Now that Druid supports SQL you can use SQL Lab to query/visualize it. I'm not sure whether Druid SQL supports UNION ALL yet. There's also "Union Data Sources" and "Query Data Sources" that may help with what you're trying to do.

Superset does not offer free form Druid querying using JSON and it's unlikely that it will in the future. If it was a feature I doubt it'd be very popular... The Druid project is moving towards promoting SQL as the main way to query Druid, and so is Superset (we're in touch with the core Druid team and I'm a Druid committer / PyDruid maintainer). It's likely that we'll sunset the Druid connector over time in favor of using the SQLAlchemy connector.
