Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has donated 7 million euros (£5m) to help the aid effort in Nepal, according to reports in France.

French sports magazine So Foot said the 30-year-old forward handed the sum of money to the charitable organisation Save the Children, which is helping survivors of the earthquake that struck the Asian country last month.

Last month Ronaldo also called upon his vast Facebook following of over 100 million people to donate to the children's charity.

If it is true, the money must come through the proper channel i.e. the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Aid Fund of the Government of Nepal. Haiti also got a lot this kind of donation, but the disaster victims are still homeless and are living into the tents since April 2010. We should not run after baseless and unreliable source and rumors.

Dear Meen sir, 
Nepal Embassy in Paris can only verify this news after consultations in Spain or they can directly contact the person himself to check whether it is true. If it is true, our ambassador should immediately visit and facilitate the person on behalf of government of Nepal. This is my personal view at the moment.

Dear Khanal sir,

Finally, it has been proved that the so called donation from Christiano Ronaldo is false. There are similar type of myths around us that will finally become false. Therefore, we should be very cautious. 

It is my firm belief that no country in the world can be built from foreign aid or donation. This is time for us to unite and stand together to rebuild our country by ourselves without running after such myths. We can generate funds and resources within our country. There is no need to beg.

I am pleased to inform you that Prof. Dr. Bishal Nath Upreti, Chairperson of DPNet-Nepal and the Prominent DRR Professional of Nepal has been awarded the CNR RAO TWAS (THE WORLD ACADEMY OF SCIENCES) Prize on 19 November 2015 in Vienna, Austria in grand ceremony. The Prize was awarded during the TWAS's 13th General Conference and 26th General Meeting, taking place in Vienna, Austria, from 18 to 21 November 2015.
