Hello all, welcome to the Agriculture Teaching Resources group for Cultivating Curiosity.
I'd like to pass along a few thoughts and questions from Daniel Schulbeck for Joe and Tania following their webinar on April 29th. Feel free to respond and add to this growing conversation:
"I had a follow-up question for Joe and Tania’s presentation that I watched on YouTube yesterday. It was an amazing summary that I feel was squeezed into the 30 min - I understand how difficult it is to summarize 20 + years of work into a short amount of
time. I have been thinking about their project since yesterday.
One thing that was not mentioned that is very crucial for any teachers/schools thinking about either starting or expanding a garden/growing program is the teacher allotment of time…
I’m not sure of the words, but what I would like to ask Joe and Tania is
what their teaching assignment looks like: does Joe teach any other classes other than the Environmental 11 and 12 class, and are the ones mentioned involved with the greenhouse/farm? How about Tania?
The allotment of teacher hours is a crucial factor for an administrator to have in mind when it comes to their role in creating the space for a garden program. For a teacher, how much of their workload is dedicated to a garden program will determine how big to dream."
