My dream is to visit the Charente area.

I have resorted to Copilot to help me find my French 3GGrandfather DR JEAN RANCLAUD ( when he moved to Ireland we believe his surname became RANCLAUD – dropping the Vergereau du/ Vergeraud du)
I am wondering if anyone at all knows about this Charente family

Thank you so very much, AGC, for posting my information and request for help. I’m absolutely thrilled with the results so far — truly excited to learn all of this, and hopeful there may be even more to discover.
Nadine, you are a marvel. I’ve already added this new information to my tree and will keep searching for more about these ancestors. And Eric, thank you so much — I’m amazed to see handwriting from so many years ago. I can’t read it well yet, but I can recognise that it’s a marriage and a birth, and that alone fills me with wonder.
I’m learning French, and I hope to visit the Charente region one day — to walk where my ancestors lived, and perhaps even see family places. And who knows, maybe I’ll even find relatives. My heart is full of gratitude to all of you for your help. I feel like celebrating with a French champagne.
I’ve shared everything I’ve learned from you with my family, and they are just as appreciative as I am. Perhaps when I finally make it to Charente (I’ve been to France many times, but never to this ancestral area), I might even meet you in person and thank you properly.
