And in terms of economic viability, Afenmai is there as the seat of limestone bed in Nigeria, some oil on its border with Southern Kogi/Anambra/Delta; major river ports; key food production area in the upper rain forest zone; highly educated/civilized citizenry who will score highly in the “af” index; and more! I can be appointed as a director in any health care parastatal in Nigeria if I so wish. But as an attorney in the USA with added law degrees from America to my LLM from Nigeria, I have nothing to benefit from rushing to acquire American law degree because that added knowledge will not in any meaningful manner improve the quality of my law practice in Nigeria but my LLM degree. I can also be appointed as attorney-general or judge if I so wish, and I don't need American law degree for that purpose but my LLM from Nigeria. I did about seven preliminary courses at Vance Granville community college with A in all of them, no B or C as my grade. Having completed all my prerequisites for admission into a 14 month accelerated nursing program, I applied to university of North Carolina (UNC) for admission into that program and I was offered an admission. I entered and came out of that program after 14 months as the best student with 3.7 GPA. As the best graduating nursing student, I had my awards and the university paid all my expenses for my nursing board exam, and as the best matriculating/entering student I had an award of $4000 which the State of North Carolina gives each year to the best two  first year nursing students in any institution in the State. The award is $2000 at college level and $4000 then at university level. The annual starting pay for a deputy district attorney in North Carolina is about $41,000 while some magistrates go home with about $38,000 per year. Many registered nurses in North Carolina go home every year with $60,000 to $70,000 including shift differentials. A Certified legal nurse harvests $80,000 to $150,000 per annum depending on whether he/she has a four year law degree or not. And to be a well-paid certified legal nurse in the USA, all one needs is a solid BSN degree and a four year law degree and one month online training. So, it  is not a big deal for me to have an American law license because I receive more pay annually, just as a registered nurse, let alone as legal nurse, than most of the lawyers I have come across, including white lawyers. In one of his previous notes, he falsely alleged that Alphonsus U Nwadike was convicted but failed to attach any record to prove his case of conviction. Alphonsus Nwadike has NEVER, NEVER been convicted in his life for any offense except for minor traffic tickets. The criminal case I have ever had involved a white lady who was a cashier at a grocery store here in Raleigh, NC. I had an altercation with her because she refused to give me a complete change/balance when I made some purchases. She made an allegation of assault against me to the police, and I didn't know that the case was reported to the police until after about a month when I was arrested. The case was not tried until after a year because, according to the police and the then deputy district attorney, the complainant (Mary I Parker) had a motor accident as a result of which she had some surgeries. A new deputy district attorney who took over the case when the complainant allegedly recovered from her surgeries clearly discovered a lot of contradictions, obvious lies and inconsistencies in the complainant's case and voluntarily dismissed the matter herself and instructed the police to arrest the complainant for giving false information to a public officer. Case became closed and Alphonsus Nwadike was never convicted.   Because the nonentity who calls himself MAZI Obi failed to attach the full report for public viewing, I have attached the above documents which embody my criminal background records showing how the case was disposed of. The monkey has played into my hands, and this is a ripe opportunity for me to prove I am NWADIKE. Everybody on our forum will know the result of Mazi Obi vs Alphonsus Nwadike legal battle in the nick of time. A right-thinking person in the USA must wonder how Alphonsus Nwadike who has a criminal conviction could  become a nurse or an attorney with such a record. The so-called Mazi Obi, alias Ezi Okwu bu Ndi, tought I was still in his category of human beings as CNA until yesterday when I referred him to a nurse search website; he did 't know when I changed to become a registered nurse, neither does he know when I left nursing for law. On a more serious tone,  the clamour to create more states in Nigeria does not take into consideration
'the additional cost of governance in Nigeria. We do not need more government in Nigeria; we need less.

One  cannot bake more cake simply by subdividing the same cake into smaller and smaller slices.

Similarly, the road to increased productivity and socioeconomic advancement does not start with
carving out more states in Nigeria.

With additional states created we would face the danger of dilution of talent in the political class and in the civil service
which would result in further deterioration of government services.
With more states created we would get would be more formerly  shoeless governors who would become rich overnight when they become governors.

In Nigeria, the South-East geo-zone is the most interested in state creation:  from its existing five states, it asks for one more, or even two more, or possibly four more, which would result in a smitherin carving-up.....not an entirely enticing socio-economic prospect for the zone, to my mind, judging from its present small landmass in particular.

Now you ask about my South-West geo-zone.  In addition to the new Ijebu State sought below, there is also the New Oyo State being bandied:

Now, if you look at the South-West geo-zone of NIgeria

to get a ninth state (after Lagos, Ogun, Ijebu, Oyo, New Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo), carving up Osun State any further would not fly according to by p-l-e-a-f formulation.  Rather, if some people insist, then it would require either

(1)  further carving up of New Oyo into two states; or

(2)  carving up Ondo State in mid-section; or

(3)  carving up the south-eastern part of Kwara State (which is currently in the North-Central zone) and joining it to the South-West geo-zone.

By the way, the general sentiment in the South-West is a re-regionalization, after which as many states as necessary can be created - or consolidated as the case may be.

And there you have it, Ike Agbor.  I hope that your own morbidity is now satisfied.

Bolaji Aluko,

The thing with you is that you enjoy peddling erroneous information; first off who says that among the criteria for "creation" of states is land mass.

Who gives the power for the "creation" of states, and if the states in the U.S were "created" based on land mass, then there won't be Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, Delaware or even New Hampshire, all clustered in the NE.

By the way, your complaisant nature and that of others towards the North blinds you from bringing up the bogus population from which a state like Kano had LGAs "created" far above Lagos, that is the most populated city in Nigeria.

That said I too support regionalism; as a matter of fact the SE and the Sw are better suited for it; Imo State can afford to cede the capital city of SE region to Enugu, while Lagos may not necessarily uproot to Ibadan. So for the SE, regionalism may turn out to be far more seamless in collapsing the existing state structures

What then would happen in the SS; between Benin City and PH?

Bolaji do you sometimes think things over; this perception of your bravura  fine combing of the others as a mean streak that is inherent in you.

And shouldn't you be happy that for the first time in our national history the denouement of a confab/conference is not being deprecated by a bogus population density of our arewa brothers.

I don't think landmass should be the criteria for creation of states, population should be. 

With respect regionalism and it being the general sentiments in the south West, why don't you think that is the same general sentiments in the south east? But I tell you that with regards the delegates at the confab, even among the South West delegates,  regionalism is not the general sentiments.  I know for a fact that Lagos delegates don't want to be receiving orders from Ibadan.

 Quite honestly,  I think the important question you need to ask is why did the confab jettison regionalism for states creation?  From the answer to this question,  you'll realize that creation of new states Is not a south east agenda but a national clamor.

Please do not mind Bolaji Aluko and his like for continuously insulting Ndi Igbo.
The educated illiterate used to live and teach in the East Coast of the United States
and knows how many States they have in the East Coast/ New York axis as compare
to California and Texas.

 Bolaji Aluko and Ola Kasim do not know is that in Texas, it takes a person
8 hours to drive from Houston to El Paso, while a person can cover 5 States in
East Coast of the United States in 1 hour.  Does that mean that Texas is larger in
population than the 5 States in East Coast?  The population of all the 10 States in the
East Cost of the United States is 81 million, while California and Texas with the largest
land mass have 64 million. In the same token, the population of Igbo States combined
is larger than most Northern and Western States with large land mass.

Bolaji Aluko's interest in the new States allocated to Southeast is becoming chronic,
 and we should allow him to drown in his own stupidity.
