Abraham’s sacrifice of a ram in the place of his Son Isaac is presented as pictures, illustrations and texts [with Abraham holding a knife and ram on an alter] allover the Bible and Quran that people read and see everyday. Perhaps nobody has issues with those pictures anymore. Why are people being hypocritical about Buhari’s worship and Sallah symbol of ram sacrifice? Except we want to be ashamed of the religion we profess!! Take care. JUI

Nwanna Ezekwe, I read it over and over again, some of the languages some people are using are uncalled for. The president was playing for the gallery, and we should take it as-such. I could not in my conscience ask any person not practice his or her religion no matter the eyesore of the act. That is my take!!!

Look guys the man is celebrating his people traditional, custom, value and religion. No one has the right to deny or criticize another person's traditional value; not me or the the pope. people should be happy to see him partaking in the traditional of his people. I will love to see him slaughter one million rams but give Nigerian citizens freedom of association, expression and religious liberty. I will love also to see him get Nigeria going again.

Precisely...PMB was being PC in putting a knife to the neck of a ram before his own immediate constituency...no proof of slaughtering in that picture, just like when you lay the first ceremonial brick, does not mean you built the house...
PMB's face does not even show anyway. Is that in fact him, or just his portrait cap?..
in any case, I may have been made to understand that as he often does - particularly so as to prevent SPCA wrath as he proceeded to the US - PMB retroactively gave the ram presidential pardon, as Obama and American presidents routinely do during Thanksgiving! :-)
Finally, Ayo, you are good at providing a propos pictures that shut people down...there must be one lurking around of another famous leader....
Biko, Barka da Sallah everyone! That ram may be alive, or may have already fulfilled it's manifest destiny - to become mutton this Sallah period - and it may have done so in presidential fashion!

VC Aluko: For Thanksgiving, Americans enjoy turkey dinners. However, the President of the US pardons a turkey every year and saves that turkey from being killed. We never saw the US president put a knife to the neck of a turkey to herald thanksgiving. Buhari should have pardoned that ram. Islam is not the only religion that calls for animal sacrifice. You bet, Dim Orioha has almost daily sacrifices by many. But you will never see in print or photo or video of the priest slaying any sacrificial animal. You have to be there at the shrine to see it happen. And that is how it should always be. |

Presidents pardoning turkeys is different from religious obligation of slaughtering rams. The day we have a Muslim in the White House, he /she will pardon turkeys at Thanksgiving and slaughter rams for Eid-el-Kabir (ten years ago, not many people would have dreamt of a black family in the White House). |
