Joe this guys are talking outright BS. They are talking about going through the current democratic process in essence through their lopsided national assembly made possible by a "constitution" created by Hausa Fulani military, where for instance Kano is made bigger than Lagos. The Sw needs to be proactive in this fight. They should not wait for Osibanjo to be disgraced, they cannot continue to think only in terms ephemeral advantage of Osibanjo being in charge but teleguided by the same Hausa Fulani.

Pastor J,We are not getting anywhere because we have always known the position of not only the so called Northern States which is not representative of the so-called old North but also most of the Southern States especially part of the SE and most of  the South-West which have no minerals to liquid or solid minerals to fll back if FISCAL Fderalism.Lagos State has kept PIM using your word because it is an oil producing state now.The Funny Lagos  people were even asking for Lagos to be a special designated money guzzler from the National Cake.
Therefore until I hear the SE and SW Govs collectively or separately agree on specifically Fiscal fedralism, then we are not getting anywhere soon.I will shout UREKA the day  NASS gets a Memo from  the Govs Conference on Restructuring. The Momentum has passed above GMB and unfortunately,Ag Presido is playing hide and seek by too much talk with  the same personalities who can take the necessary steps with no ACTION to get us out of all these agitations.
The Arewa Spokesman is talking about long and complex process which is all about not losing part of the national cake, they donot  provide any  of the ingredients nor even know how to bake a cake..
Let each state start  making its own ingredients to bake its own cake and let the FG deal with the Bigger issues as we all know from Offshore resources.A National Equity Fund will be created to subsidise poor states infrastructural development.
Let Ag Presido call all the Govs,NASS Leadership and key Traditional Rulers to a Conference and tell them to come up with consensus on  how   the restructuring can bring stability and let NASS take over on the constitutional amendments.iw FOR TALK FOR CONCRETE  ACTION NOW

Oga
You are still talking about NASS & State Governors? I think we have gone past that. There seems to be a groundswell of public opinion heading towards restructuring Nigeria as the next political imperative

The ground is shifting under everybody's feet. It's seismic. That we don't recognise it or ignore it won't make a difference

Here's Umuahia :

1. Personally I think one of the reasons some folks are reluctant to embrace restructuring is the fear of economic survival. And it is a valid fear that ought to be addressed by a good faith dialogue that puts in place transitional schemes to move from where we are to full fiscal federalism

2. All our people know their true representatives. I would gladly have Ohaneze under Nnia Nwodo represent me at the dialogue table than any governor or NASS member. Thank you very much.

3. The first order of business is for everyone to acknowledge that Nigeria is not working and that we should meet in good faith to decide how Nigeria can work for all.

4. I'm not sure we have much time but I have been known to be episodically wrong

Joe Attueyi:

Please don't use "episodically" wrongly:  you are frequently wrong on these issues!

Moving on.....

There is no seismic shifting of any ground.   What is happening is that in the absence of Buhari, some political actors are thinking that they can force Osinbajo into some precipitate action,  either to present an Executive bill or to commit to adopting/publicly discussing the 2014 Conference resolutions.

Like the cat is away,  so the mice can play mischief...

Osinbajo won't and he shouldn't.    The FGN should stay out of it for now.

If the NASS is convinced about restructuring, its members should discuss it,  and start with a Joint Bill.    If the Governors Forum of Nigeria GFN are for it,  then they should assure the NASS that when such a bill eventually gets to their Houses of Assembly HOAs - as our Constitution would require for such a fundamental bill - they will champion the cause.   If all that leads to a Restructuring Act, Osinbajo or Buhari will sign it,  or their veto will be upturned.

If neither the NASS or GFN have the spine to bell the cat,  and if The People of Nigeria (TPON)  are for it,  then we should make it the MAIN issue of contention in the 2019 elections,  period.

This is the democratic process, than all these ethnic posturings,  intimidation and blackmail.   Nigeria will not collapse before 2019, and will only continue to live unhappily without restructuring.

Imagine  you writing that you prefer the unelected Ohaneze to represent you more than all the five Governors,  10 Senators, 50-odd House reps and 100-odd HOA members in the five SE states?

The takeaway?   We should take no short-cuts on this restructuring issue,  because we will have to live with it for a long time.   Personally,  I think some systemic ground-clearing still needs to be done before we embark upon it,  but I have been known to be episodically wrong.

And there you have it.

Pastor J,100 million people can go to Umuahia,Kaduna,Ibadan etc for restructuring or secession. In addition, whoever represents Pastor J at any Interethnic  Talks  with other Ethnic groups " in good faith",the Conclusions  must still go through NASS with State Assemblies and not by Executive Order or Supreme Court sitting as a Constitutional Court.
If you read my mail,I did say that the situation now has gone beyond talking and any talking must lead to "concrete action".ie amending or rewriting the constitution like the one GEJ refused to sign..
Since you are always "episodically right" who am I who is always episodically wrong to differ.
What is iimportant to me is for your colleague Pastor Osinbajo who is also a professor of law to see the writing on the wall by with the common grounds he has reached with all the groups he has consulted. This will be  a good start.
I salute o. iw
