Don't mind them. They talk as if 13 billion pounds is chicken change. By the way, is the money in cash? And if it is in cash, I doubt if the airplane Diezani flew in to London can store 13 billion pounds.

Please note that unlike Nigeria where our largest currency note is N1000, isn't the largest British currency note 20 or 50 pounds? How many 20 or 50 pounds make up 13 billion pounds?

Was the money cashier's check?

I simply don't believe this inflated figures.

But I doubt the amount mentioned in this write-up: 13 Billion British Pound sterling?  The paper obviously overstretched the amount.

Take care

I really hate to do this, but, did someone I had some regard for in  the name of Chike Onyeani not write to refute his contact with UK authorities on this woman's arrest.

I am still waiting on Chike Onyeani's apology to his readership.  What a shame.

    1. Nigeria - According to TheSun UK columnist, Kelvin Mackenzie, Diezani Alison-Madueke, who was arrested last Friday, was caught while trying to hide a lump sum by investing it in London's mortgage sector.

      diezanii.jpg

      Excerpt:

Ms Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s former oil minister, has just been nicked in London over allegations that £13billion (yes, £13billion) has gone walkabout from her country’s coffers.

Apparently she was looking at buying a massively expensive apartment at One Hyde Park. With £13bn I’m surprised she didn’t buy the whole of Hyde Park.

I concur- Do not mind them!  Did not they reported one time that  Diezani was in the same British flight with  PMB.  If  they are in the same flight talking and laughing, PMB is an accomplice in disguise.
We are watching all these tabloid newspapers !

If as alleged Dieziani Alison and her fake companies headed by Kola Aluko and Jide Omokore, are  controlling OML 26, 30, 34 and 42 wells......then they could have made billions of pounds sterling.
These companies were pumping oil everyday from four oil wells, but paid little or nothing to NNPC.

    Vin,

How could you think of cash? Someone is said to have looted or stolen billions of pounds and you are talking of cash! And you are quick to say others are dumb.

Please note my email is not limited to cash. You may want to read the paragraph that doesn't talk about cash. But more importantly, I take it you believe the sum that they reported she stole - 13 billion pounds.

    Vin,

The issue is not whether I believe the story or not. The issue is that you ever thought of cash when talking of billions of pounds.

    Otitigbe,

I am not in a hurry to believe or disbelieve. Since the case is in court, we will know details as time goes by. The thirteen billion pounds (if in fact there is any such thing) could be the proceed from oil wells that were allocated to her front or something in that line.

    My People:

I am surprised that people read this The Sun write-up, and accuse DKAM of embezzling £13 Bn.  First, the headline took poetic license with "hide" and "Hyde" Park - the latter being near where DKAM wants to live for the rest of her life, maybe - and secondly money reference is to the TOTAL money allegedly missing from Nigeria through corruption in Nigeria, which cannot be all due to her.

Quite frankly, the number of Agama family members and number of companies registered, unregistered and deregistered in the UK are quite numbing, and the money figures troubling.   I just don't know what they were thinking, that at the very least officialdom was not taking note? The fact of the matter is that no Nigerian crime is being implied yet: the corruption charge is corruption in the UK, and the more serious charge is bribery in the UK, because even if the amount of corruption were £1000, trying to bribe your way out of it can cause you great grief.

There is trouble here, Houston....the Nigerian angle is just unfolding, where the witch-hunt defense might be pled, but not in the UK.

    And there you have it.

Spell it out better. If she is being charged for bribery attempts in London, can those smart Oyibo confiscate the entire loot? I don't trust Oyibo. They don't care about Africa, just what they can heist from Africa. Can Nigeria lay official claim to the loot right now?

Is EFCC monitoring phone calls to overseas by our politicians and ministers as they try to make moves to alter the identities of owners of looted funds? Nigeria can use but huge and small recovered loots. Get them all.

Quick question to all the people that has been talking and discussing the looting of Nigerian money. Has any body looked into all the members of EFCC then and now that took billions of bribery from the looters and deposit in American banks, and also their families are inviting Nigerian monies in American, helping their welfare system thrive while Nigerian poor families are dying of hunger, inadequate energy system, helping the Asian cheap products thrive . It hurt to see these things as a  Nigerian a country that have stole from you during colonial imperialism and continue to treat as animal when you come to their country. I think everybody who has hold any kind of government job, or political job in Nigeria has stolen some money from the government purse, so I say go after every body big or small.
