The entire Continental Africans in America are proud of a diligent sister who as an officer of New York Police Department has made us proud by crossing barrier to become the highest ranked African in the entire NYPD which is the second largest police department in America. Her name is Deputy Inspector Olufunlola Obe. She is THE COMMANDER OF THE 28TH PRECINT of NYPD. At the reception organized for her by the Harlem (African-Americans) and Continental African communities at the historical Harriet Tubman Learning Center on Friday, June 13, 2014, she spoke about her work in all the communities in New York City like been on patrol for years and her community based programs like mentoring younger female officers and organizing monthly breakfast meetings in Brooklyn with grandmothers who are raising their grandchildren because their parents are serving terms in prisons or are dead due to crimes. There were many dignitaries at the reception to honor one of our own like New York State Senator Bill Perkins and Mr. Willie Walker, the superintendent of the New York State Building.
