Mazi Pete Vs Okenwa Nwosu,
Biko che-lum a minute! This is an IMPORTANT STATEMENT from Gen Buhari and we MUST recognize it for what it is while we stretch our imaginations on the ramifications! JUI has consistently advised Mazi Pete et al to QUIT this unreserved deity status they hold Buhari, so that the Guy can operate freely as a Normal Human Being whom people can discuss his good and bad qualities, and can make mistakes, show contrition and correct them like any other decent human! It becomes a SERIOUS concern for the majority of impartial citizens like JUI [whose main interest is opportunity for every Nigerian citizen and good governance in the country] when some of you don’t even want anybody to clarify any uncertainty about Buhari without attacking or maligning the person! That attitude is not in Buhari’s interest because the American examples will tell us that when a leader emerges as an aspirant for a democratic political office, he subjects him/herself for analysis, for the public to hear and discuss the good and the bad; the leader stays on the message to clarify any uncertainties and proceeds to canvas for people’s support! When people see such “fallible” human being like themselves, they make up their minds accordingly; it is very unlikely that humans want Angels as Presidents, Senators, Congressmen/women, Ministers, Commissioners, and Directors over human affairs on earth. Se we should allow Buhari to be a Normal Human Being!
That said, it is worth noting that the write-up below is very eye-popping even to JUI who left Nigeria to the US about a month before Buhari took over Govt in a military coup against Shagari; all JUI heard was that Buhari was taking Nigeria to the OIC to Islamize the country and his heavy-handed undemocratic modus operandi; although those methods were supposed to be for the good of the country, there is a balance and moderation in very human enterprise; if not, you risk isolating people! Besides, despite the tough disciplinary measures that characterized Buhari’s regime, some people complained about a measure of selectivity; and most importantly, there was no dramatic change in Nigerian infrastructural and education needs that can be tendered as his legacies today. So y’all should allow wondering citizens to wonder aloud about people who are aspiring to lead them without subjecting them to any indignities and unnecessary yabis!
Now, reading through this statement by Buhari, one cannot help but see and discern the human side of Buhari far beyond political statements and promises. This article shows a side of Buhari that most people didn’t realize! Imagine the following words; I quote: “”Those who committed this act have declared war on all that is decent and good. They have declared war not against the state or even the government. They have declared war on Nigeria and all Nigerians because this murder took men and women, old and young, Christian and Muslim alike. In trying to scare, frighten and divide us, the evildoers committed injury to their own cause. For they have shown us that we all suffer inhumanity in the same way. No matter our religion or place of birth, we all bleed and are wounded the same way by injustice. Decency runs through the teachings of each religion and ethnic group that comprise the people of Nigeria. We may have our differences, but the vast majority of Nigerians stand united against the appalling violence committed in Nyanya and other places. These acts have no place in Nigeria. Those who commit them have no place in our country. The perpetrators may look like human beings. They may have limbs and faces like the rest of us but they are not like us. In killing innocent people, they have become inhuman. They live outside the scope of humanity. Their mother is carnage and their father is cruelty. They have declared war against the people of Nigeria. They have shown that they do not want to liberate the people. They want to kill them. Yet, with all the energy of their evil and ignorant hatred, they shall fail. The good people of Nigeria shall triumph.””
Secondly, there is no place in the statement that Buhari is blaming the Govt in power or playing politics, unlike the past statements; rather, Buhari is advising the Govt to beef up intelligence and to embark on community development to provide alternatives to the youth frequently recruited to undertake these mindless slaughters and destructions of the NE terrorists in Nigeria.
Thirdly, there is no doubt that the statement appeared to end “abruptly”, as recognized by Brother Okenwa; time will tell on what really happened; but if we must freely stretch our imaginations in our country, we can infer that Buhari’s speech writer on this statement was CERTAINLY NOT Mazi Nebu, Mazi Pete or some of the past handlers whose approaches were centered on “attack, attack and attack; blame, push blames and point fingers at political opponents/enemies! To JUI, this was Buhari at his human BEST in empathy, unifying, caring and offering solutions to societal problems!! He should keep it up!!!
Finally, JUI would like to continue to stretch his imagination to wonder why Boko Haram was not mentioned in the statement by Buhari. After all, the sect has made a public statement claiming responsibility for the Nyanya bombing; and the general understanding at this time is that the sect is also responsible for the abduction of over 200 little girls from a Girls’ Secondary School. Again, time will tell on what really happened.
In conclusion, we thank Buhari for this statement because its good for the country, despite some few wonderments we harbor as mentioned above. To JUI, this was Buhari at his human BEST in empathy, unifying, caring and offering solutions to societal problems!! He should keep it up!!! Take care. JUI

Peter,
It has taken some serious prodding for Buhari to finally decide to seek his breakaway from the mold in which he had cast himself in eyes of the Nigerian public as an unapologetic Islamic fundamentalist protagonist since his stint as a military strongman at helm of the Armed Forces ruling junta which he led in a coup that toppled the Shagari administration of the 2nd Republic. I, for one, have severally tried unsuccessfully in the past to pry the general's mouth open on matters that pertain to the Boko Haram conundrum. It is not inconceivable for some to believe that the smoking out of the likes of Murtala Nyako and his ilk may have persuaded the wily general to publicly make his break for the exit. If that is the case, good for him. A smart soldier, at least, ought to know instinctively when to run for cover so as to survive long enough to fight another day.
Don't you ever forget that Buhari is now overly keen on foraging in the mainstream political terrain which is definitely a different animal from the regimented military barracks from where he once reigned supreme with his armed co-conspirators. If General Buhari is intent on assuring skeptics like me about his new born-again mindset, maybe he should demonstrate this by endeavoring to be more specific in his proposals on ending the Boko Haram insurgency. I have no close personal acquaintance with General Buhari like you and thus I owe him absolutely nothing and would care less about what he elects to do with rest of his life, especially with regards to his quest to return to the country's pinnacle of of political power, the exact place he found himself more than one generation ago. It is hard to perceive anything exciting or refreshing about this ill-tempered fella whose many contemporaries have already quietly chosen to retire from public life. I am not implying that the likes of Buhari should just fade into oblivion, even if they truly believe that they still have much in them to contribute toward nation building. Maybe this is a unique opportunity for him to demonstrate his mettle by baring his inner thoughts on how to eliminate the scourge of fundamentalist Islamist terrorism for god from every square inch of Nigeria. He shall definitely get my ears and rapt attention if he chooses to engage in this sort of national service as a "statesman" of note.
Ogbuonyeiro, the only "devils work" I can see in today's Nigeria is embodied in the Boko Haram and its many protagonists within the top echelon of the executive leadership of the old North and elsewhere nationwide. Contrary to your perception, my own contribution to Nigeria's nation-building endeavor, for now, is to remain ever vigilant and persistent in the quest to smoke out masquerading Boko Haram facilitators in whichever ethnicity, religion, profession or socioeconomic background they may come from.
You can bet your last kobo on this promise any day...........
Okenwa.

Okenwa, you are an intelligent man, but it will be nothing short of devils work if you choose to apply your intelligence devilishly intent on impugning the person and character
of the only man of integrity today across the length and breadth of Nigeria. Buhari.
What you must seek to understand is simply how Buhari differs from every man and woman in the public's eye today in the south, and particularly in the north of Nigeria.
The statement you excerpted on Buhari, reminds me of Ojukwu-speak. At such time, I read and I say who else in Nigeria speaks or thinks like this? Tell me who in Nigeria north or south has spoken as has Buhari with particular reference to the excerpt you posted?
None.
Southern politicians are busy running around looking for money to line their pockets, forgetting to prepare their constituents against a possible onslaught in their zone by the terrorists that now reside in the north.
Northern politicians, complicit as many of them are, are busy referring to acts to stem the terrorists and their actions, as genocide.
Gowon yesterday was quoted as referring to the terrorists as "insurgents", and indeed tried to equate the terrorists and their evil acts to Biafra's resistance to the pogrom against Igbo by Nigerians he - Gowon supervised.
Needless to say I was pained reading MOE writing that for once he agreed with Gowon. I wondered what he agreed with Gowon for - that Biafrans were terrorists or that they were insurgents. Or that terrorism by terrorists is "civil war? Just don't know.
One thing is clear on your take here Okenwa. You cannot find it in your heart or faculty to allow Buhari credits for his spot on position on the boko haram issue; instead, you are still bent on seeking whatever fault you can find on the man, even when there
is none. Simply none.
Buhari is an ordinary citizen like you and I; he has no access to sensitive information such as Jonathan may have, yet the man is guided by experience and know-how honed over the years as a soldier, action soldier at that, and a former head of state, to state
a position that could help in stemming the downward spiral of security in the country.
It is a banal exercise to seek that which was not part of his statement to try to indict him. The spate of lie, smear, false witness and blackmail seem to dwell among us so much now, that everyone big or small ought to be careful who will be smeared next and
by whom.

Compatriots,
It is quite interesting to read what General Buhari has to say about the recent spate of indiscriminate murderous onslaught by the Boko Haram terrorists on innocent fellow compatriots. For one thing, he comes across as someone wishing to distance himself from the dastardly acts of the rampaging fundamentalist Islamist extremists of the Far North and their murder campaign, especially the recent Nyanya bomb blast and kidnap of truck loads of teenage school girls from their dormitories in Borno state.
It appears, however, that the full text of the ex-military strongman’s commentary was deliberately truncated and not published in full. The published version of his commentary ends abruptly with “A major initiative with immediate and long-term.” Perhaps, his speech writer had a miscue of sort or the publishers of the commentary elected on their own to redact a portion they could have considered inappropriate or out of synch with the preceding segment.
It would have been interesting to learn what he has to say about the declared open support by the political top executives of the old North for Boko Haram which the Adamawa state governor, Nyako, characterized as being wrongly maligned and accused as being responsible for the “genocidal” agenda perpetrated on Northerners by agents of the GEJ administration. Could Buhari also be attempting to distance himself from the likes of Gov. Murtala Nyako and his coterie in the errant Northern Governors Forum? Here is an important question. Is Buhari’s commentary reflective of a change of mind within his opposition political alignment, the APC or is he just adlibbing on his own?
By the way, does anyone know the political party alignment to which Gov. Murtala Nyako of Adamawa belongs?

Nyanya Bomb Blast And The Fight Against Terrorism In Nigeria
By General Muhammadu Buhari

General Muhammadu Buhari |
By Muhammadu Buhari
Sinister terror and hatred have again reached from the shadows to steal the lives of innocent Nigerians. In Nyanya, seventy-two people were killed by a car bomb. Hundreds more were injured in the devastation. Their killings served no purpose except for those who exalt in evil. The bomb blast quickly came and went like the deadly thief it was; but we shall be left to endure the pain and loss from this terrible act for a long time to come.
What the nation lost is irreplaceable. The number 72 seems like just another grim tally among the death statistics that have become all too common. But what occurred is much more than that. We must really stop and take notice of where evil is attempting to drive us to. The abduction of over one hundred school girls is unacceptable, condemnable and saddens me greatly.
We cannot allow these merchants of death to make us numb to the tragedy they manufacture. Those who were killed were not merely numbers on a page. They were human beings, made of flesh and blood body and soul like all the rest of us. They were someone’s father or mother, brother or sister. They had parents; they were someone’s child. They were husbands or wives, neighboring friends and colleague. They had dreams and hopes. They were loved and loved others in return. Now, life has been taken away and those who cared from them must bear a grief no person should be asked to carry.
These people committed no wrong. Their only crime was to be ordinary working class people seeking to eke out a livelihood and tend for themselves and their families. For this, they were killed.
They represent the backbone of the working people. Not many of them lived an easy life. Most worked hard and long for modest wages. They lifted themselves up every morning to earn their daily bread. They faced the many social and economic challenges and obstacles our society poses, yet they worked not to destroy but to make this a better place by bettering the lives of their family and loved ones.
These people lived anonymously and died the same way. We do not yet know their names. But, in a fundamental sense, we know who they were. They were part of us. They shared the same aspirations we all do. We seek an improved fate for our children and hope to leave them a better life. We want to work and live in dignity and respect. We want a life of peace and harmony with our neighbors regardless of religion, ethnicity or background. We seek prosperity not poverty. We seek brotherly understanding not strife. We seek peace, not bombs.
It was not just 72 people who were taken in this depraved assault. Each of us lost something that day. Yet, despite the loss and suffering, we must not cower in fear, and let the purveyors of death believe they have scored a victory over us.
Those who committed this act have declared war on all that is decent and good.

Yet, with all the energy of their evil and ignorant hatred, they shall fail. The good people of Nigeria shall triumph.
Such a wicked mission shall not succeed. We have gone too far in our journey to nationhood and endured too much to allow these terrible acts to divert us.
Not only have these agents of death killed innocent people, they also abducted over 100 young women from their school. Why abduct school girls? Whatever they plan, they should be ready to face the wrath of Nigerian people. They should release these young girls unharmed. Anything else would be an abominable crime.
We all must take close heed at this moment and recognize the severity of what is upon us. A small minority seeks to bring the nation to its knees through terror. Thus, we must stand tall and united. We can ill afford to allow their crimes to go unpublished united.
I call on the government to improve and redefine its strategy in the light of this expanding menace. Clearly, its intelligence gathering needs to be improved so that it can break terrorist plots before they hatch. Moreover, it needs to enact greater social and economic reform in the blighted areas of the nation to win the hearts and minds of the people. Give the youth a viable alternative and they will not be duped by the lure of extremist dogma. A major initiative with immediate and long-term.

Those who speak ill about Buhari do it with ignorance and Hate and because he is a Muslim in opposition contesting against a Non-Muslim from minority south. So all they do is to tarnish his image to make him loose electoral value in the eyes of mostly southerners.
The same people will open their mouth and say we need a Rawling's style leadership. Pls tell me where they ll get it from.
It is very sad when you see educated adults telling liars on print media. People don't do research again they just parrot what others said without thinking. What a Shame.
It only the Corrupt and indiscipline person that fear a Buhari Leadership.
Some ll even pen it that Buhari is Boko haram when our own late NSA chief told us that PDP is Boko Haram a man who works with intelligence report and months later he was sacked and died in an aircraft accident. Nobody read meaning to his demise. Had he said the opposite the whole paper would have been awash with comments.
They ll also say Buhari or the Northern Muslims don't condemn Boko Haram what a treacherous Lie to tell in public.

I have no close personal acquaintance with General Buhari like you and thus I owe him absolutely nothing and would care less about what he elects to do with rest of his life, especially with regards to his quest to retur

Subject: Re: [africanworldforum] RE: Ethiopia - Islam & Christ.. - GEN. BUHARI COMMENTS ON
Let us be very clear that it was the African Abyssinia indigenous Christianity which had the greatest victory and support for Pan Africanism in our recent history. Some of the traditionalists supported imperialism and slavery, and afforded foreign versions of Christianity and Islam or Mohammadism (name before 19th century) to wreak havoc against Africans and the world. Some traditionalists have yet come to the rescue of African people, while others colluded with the local and global agents of imperialism to neutralize modern great leaders like even Kwame Nkrumah in Ghana.
African Ethiopian indigenous Christianity which is based on the Coptic tradition of Egypt greatly influenced the origination of both Judaism and Christianity (Islam came from both of these quasi-monotheistic traditions). The word Coptic is a corruption of the ancient Kamitic concept of Ptah (Peter) - the opener of the way to divinity. The Concept of MAAT are guidelines and principles to live daily, for eternal life.
Unfortunately, the current Ethiopia's indigenous form of Christianity is under attack by White Western imperialist Churches (and Islam) who are evangelizing across Ethiopia because this indigenous Church loyalty to African people is unprecedented in our history. It was the Ethiopian Church which protected Islam origin and Muhammad life at its conception from being destroyed by the Meccans. To the Africans then and scholars now it shares some similarities to ancient Christianity.
Again, they are studying our strengths and weaknesses and attacking from all angles and dimensions for the total control of Africa. Many of the current Ethiopians are now submitting to foreign versions of Christianity and Islam against their traditional trajectory to serve African people first because the Roman Church has for two-thousand years have dedicated itself to defeat the African Church, originally based in Egypt. Islamacist was not as aggressive because most know Ethiopia gave life to Islam. Again, the African Church is based upon Kamitic science for its worldview with thousands of years of research, experiences and studies, not on the dominantly pagan tradition of Europe.
Finally, the Ethiopian Church was the rallying point for Emperor Menelik and Emperor Selassie to fight and defeat imperialism and other foreign forces. The Western and Saudi plan is to weaken and pacify this most important and ancient traditional Church/spiritual system in Africa. They are are preparing for total defeat of Africa because other African traditional religions have not fully demonstrated mobilization for Continental unity as Ethiopia because they are more tribal than Pan African in their heritage, orientation and history. Ethiopia is the grand protector of Africa and we cannot allow the AU to fail it.
A clear reason why the AU is in Ethiopia is because the tradition allows for Pan African global power for African people. We must work harder to establish the Pan African government before the AU and Ethiopia is totally hijacked to promote foreign interests. Min. Menelik Harris

Many thanks Tijani. This is a challenge for me and I intend to do something about it because do you know having been away from Nigeria since only 2009 I have lost touch with alot of things and don't even know who is my ward councillor or LGA chairman? Can you imagine? I think, I should start from here.

To almost all Nigerians in Diaspora,
I am addressing this email to almost all and not ALL of you because of my belief that there are good and bad people everywhere in the world. There are therefore, exemptions - the likes of Dr. Baba Adam who has proved himself as a bridge builder. I am nonetheless, compelled by what I see as CONSTANT diplay of a bitter war of words among most Nigerians in Diaspora who air their views on the Internet. Surprisingly most of you live in the USA which is the World's symbol of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among people of not only various ethnic and religious beliefs (as is the case among Nigerians), but also of various races and countries of origin. Are you staying in America without learning anything? If you can take your eyes off your screens and look around, you will appreciate what America is about. If you are capable of appreciation, you should see the beauty of harmony among Americans in spite of their diversity. If you stay in America and still find yourselves (as you obviously do) intolerant of Nigerians who are ethnically different from you or who hold views that differ from yours, then I am sorry for you. YOU ARE TERRIBLY POLARISED AND YOUR CONSTANT INCITEMENT THROUGH ITS DISPLAY ON THE INTERNET IS THREATENING OUR UNITY. I THEREFORE, BEG YOU TO KEEP YOUR TOXIC THOUGHTS TO YOURSELVES. I received my bachelors and masters degrees from America and my PhD from the UK. It wasn't like this during our time. We were our brothers' and sisters' keepers - regardless of differences in ethnicity or religious beliefs. SO WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!
Sen. Muhammed Abba Aji MFR, PhD
Joe, I never wanted to respond to you, but not when I noticed an obvious LIE, a smear tag people like you and Okenwa are used to putting on the name and person of Buhari.
You left Nigeria a month after Buhari took the helm of the coup planned and executed by your good friend baabangida, and you heard that Buhari wanted to Islamize Nigeria and took Nigeria to OIC. This is a maddening exercise in imbecility and ignorance on your part, Joe. it is an unpardonable ignorance.
All you Joe, and Okenwa and your ilk try to do anytime you have Buhari at cross hairs is to lie, smear and blackmail him. It is a shame.
Now, I was in Nigeria the day, and later months of the 1984 coup. Buhari had more work at hand shaping up the chaotic environment politicians left behind than seeking which religion to align Nigeria with.
Now, let me tell you. It was when the gap toothed evil one baabangida smiled his way through DUMB Nigerians to the helm with no discernible agenda but to save his crooked self, that religion became an national matter.
baabangida had need to please zealots in the north, and so his desire to show loyalty to them by taking Nigeria to OIC. If I may make it clearer to you, it was baabangida and OIC, never Buhari. Get it?
So my friend stop the nonsense. Buhari is religious man alright, as are some us, Christians, but Buhari does not do religion, and has no need for religion in public affairs. I know some of you will go to the grave believing the contra to be the case.
Ask any soldier from private to colonels and brigadiers who ever worked under Buhari, Muslims in particular the manner of headache they got from the man. Any Muslim working for Buhari had to show Buhari where it was written in the Koran that they must not work on Friday! Since such is not the case, no such thing in the Koran, in the office you stay, to work. No Muslim wants that. But that is Buhari for you, the man some of you horrible creatures refuse to know but enjoy to malign.
Ask Christians who have worked under Buhari, if they had any problem with Buhari. All Buhari expects of a professional is to do his or her job, and you have free hand to do just that. That is Buhari.
It is indeed when a lie such as you Joe have just told that some of us jump in defense an innocent man deliberately maligned by seemingly intelligent people who refuse to think. I will do the same for any man or woman, not just Buhari. You creatures are simply insufferable.
Peter Opara worships no man. So the hell with those of you who think of some us pro-Buhari and think "messiah". Well in the sense that Buhari is the only man of integrity standing in Nigeria today, you call him that. But the egoless Buhari is the last person to accept such appendage or reference. That is for sure.
Peter Opara

So because Buhari paid your salary,......, something you were rightly entitled to, then he has become your Hero. Were you not being paid salaries before and after Buhari? What profit did WAI brought to Nigerians. This is a case of "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others" While you were busy lining up under the sun, they were busy allocating oil blocks to themselves inside their air-conditioned offices.
