I have determined to be one of the first to kick against any attempts to bring McDonald into my village in Nigeria.
I will also continue to fight any attempts by any Western or Eastern world religions to label my religion, Chism, as a paganism.
I believe the people of a nation should determine what they consider as old traditions to discard and new or foreign ones to embrace.
The idea of killing Saddam so McCain McDonalds can be established in Iraq can never be right.
See how soundly the world has been snoring since Saddam was killed by Bush and Muammar Gaddafi was killed by Obama.
Dan
Raji,
This is how you ended your nice brief.
" they should stop trying to shove down their liberal agenda down our throat and give sincere assistance where and when requested"( Raji)
And here is what I thought would be more appropriate : they should stop allowing our looters bank their loots in their countries. In that way, the looters would be forced to keep their loots in Nigerian banks or in their homes. I prefer they leave some in their homes so their fellow unelected robbers would have a chance to retake from them on bravery.

That's right. There are some aspects of African traditional cultures that would be good for copy by other worlds. How much of such cultures have we, the indigenous practitioners love ?
The idea and as promoted by some churches is if it did not come from Rome, then it is ungodly.
I will agree with the human rights issue but asking that homosexuality be documented as a life to encourage is simply out of boundary. I like gays to be left alone , not be killed or discriminated against . I like the caste system killed now. I hate human slavery. I hate that USA also aides corruption in some African countries by letting looters a safe haven in some US banks.
I hate the idea of killing a president or arming his people to turn against him in other to being in KFC into a country.

Would McDonald's brand still be McDonald's without it's unique taste and and menu ?
We can have such high disease resistant crops and high yielding generically modified crops without having our people predisposed to the ills of having breakfasts , launch and dinner in MacDonalds
McDonald's does well in poor and underclass neighborhoods than may be found in richer neighborhoods.
Go check the health index stats in these neighborhoods. They are dead traps because of the culture of eating out in American style common restaurants like Wendy and McDonald.
Is that what I would want for my village in the name of Americanizing her? No.
There could be other sources of employment for our youths than with flipping pies and poisoning people with lad.
I want my people to farm and continue to make fresh soups daily, fresh veges and homemade chickens and fishes.
Americanization comes with a prize that sometimes means doom for a people.
It's better to have people evolve on their own than killing their leaders so KFC and Wendy would move in.
Our mama-puts have not done badly providing us with hot and spicy jeloff rice for breakfast.
We want to make our own teas than buying a cup and showing off holding it like kitchenlessly homeless bunch.
We can take their jeans, for people that like to wear jeans. Wearing their Ts that glorify worker abusers is not what I would want.
My kids learned early in life not to wear branded Ts like KC or any of the USA popular brand cloth names.
My boy that 'revolted had some Ts with his name boldly printed on them. It cost us more money and he is now big and cares less and had praised me for raising him without any sympathy for uthopia.
Did it pay off ? You can say the rest for me because you know.

Yours below sounds confusing.Bro forgive me if I elaborate. Yoruba people DO NOT kill Twins or Triplets or One-millionth-baby. We worship Twins. When Triplets arrive in the old days, the town will automatically organize a same day dance parade to the king's palace. Any clothes and beads the king wears on that day are presented as gifts to the parents of the new babies. Other gifts are then officially taken to the home of the new born. "Ori Ibeji" is something no Yoruba toys with, it is a deity that has its own wooden statue specifically carved the moment Twins are born........the statues are called Ere Ibeji. They are "Orisa
Akunlebo" in their own rights but exclusively worshipped by their parents who prepare offerings for the statues. I recall a life in a high school-Nigeriana, when a food seller nearer to a high school won't sell to anyone until these two identical boys will pay her and had the first bite. Oh no, Mama Oniresi was not eccentric, she was just a traditionalist that held dearest the belief that "Ori Ibeji" increases sales if those Twins were the first to buy from the seller. Ori Ibeji is the harbinger of fortune in Yorubaland, Yoruba embrace Twins not discard them. You dare not beat them or Ori Ibeji will react to your abuse. I am sorry, you just don't make it clear with yours below. I love my Yoruba. What can I say! Shikena |

Full disclosure: I'm for Gays and all Human rights, notwithstanding my stand against Obama's speech to African leaders. Now bismillahi: It's arrogant of Obama to advise Africans to let go old ways for new ones. It's not his call. Obama is not an African, he's an American, he's part of the nation that has a majority of Racists of whom his grandparents were part of. I don't hold the bigotry of his white ancestors against him, but as Obama went too far this time around, we need to tell him to shut the fuck off. For those who doesn't know where my ship sails from, there was once a Gerard Ford who tried to manipulate the
OAU. Apparently as was the colonial masters customs, US and Britain and France used to prepare their African monkeys prior to OAU meetings, on what tune to dance to, during meetings. However, a new Sheriff named General Mur'tala Mohammed was not in the mood to bend backwards on Rhodesia. I recollect reading in newspapers across Nigeria, with pride, that when MM received the customary arm-twisting phone call from Ford, Mur'tala Mohammed told Ford to shut the fuck up. Those were the nostalgic days of realtime Patriotism! Just like Ford, Obama should go mend his own leaking bigotry White House. Imagine a symbolic House built by slaves, own by all color and creed and gender and races and Rainbow Americana, imagine the House is called "WHITE HOUSE".........a House that belongs to White people. Tell him to tell his
people to discard old ways and begin with the renaming of his residence they traditionally named the White House. Tell Obama to save the Black folks from everyday lynching across the American landscapes by those paid to protect ALL AMERICANS. Tell Obama that he can't tell others how to live. Tell Obama to take his own advice........Obama displayed the traditional American arrogance of superiority which he should discard when talking to Africans. Even if he meant well, it wasn't his call. Shikena Afis...........I'm still for gays rights in case anyone wonders! |

What is a Sodomite?
A sodomite is a person who practices sodomy--a
homosexual. God's word doesn't use such terms as "homosexual," "gay,"
and "lesbian." Some might argue that a sodomite is nothing more than an
inhabitant of Sodom, but God uses the word "sodomite" in reference to
homosexuals long after the ancient city of Sodom is destroyed (1 Kings
14:24; 15:12; 22:46; 2 Kings 23:7).
Isn't it more proper to refer to sodomites as "homosexuals" and "gays?"
No, because God refers to them as "sodomites."
"Homosexual" is a neutral technical term, while "gay" is a nice term
that the sodomites have invented for themselves. Due to the constant
brainwashing tactics of Hollywood and the Media, "gay" has been adapted
by most everyone as the proper title for these people. To be "gay" is
to be "merry" and "joyful." To be a "sodomite" is to be wicked and sinful (Gen.
13:13). So "gay" is certainly NOT the proper title. We are warned in
Isaiah 5:20 that God is very displeased with people who apply good words
to evil things: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;
that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for
sweet, and sweet for bitter!" Drunkards are not "chronic alcoholics," fornication is not "pre-marital sex," and sodomites are not "gay."
How do we know for certain that sodomy is a sin?
Because God's word declares it to be a sin, over and
over again. The very first time "Sodom" occurs in the Bible God sends us
a sound warning: "But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly." (Gen. 13:13) In Genesis 18:20, we are told that the sin of Sodom is "very grievous." Then
in Genesis 19:4-7 we read of a case where the Sodomites seek sexual
relations with a total stranger! Shortly after this incident, God
destroys their entire city because He couldn't find even ten righteous
people dwelling there.
Later, in the book of Leviticus, some very sharp warnings are given about sodomy. Leviticus 18:22 says, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." Then Leviticus 20:13 says, "If
a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them
have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their
blood shall be upon them." Webster defines an "abomination" as "extreme hatred" and "detestation." That's how God feels about sodomites.
Hundreds of years later we read that sodomites are in the land and they are committing "abominations" (1 Kings 14:24). King Asa, a good king over Judah, did "that which was right in the eyes of the Lord" when he "took away the sodomites out of the land" (1
Kings 15:11-12). Several years later there were still some sodomites
left in the land, so King Jehoshaphat, the son of King Asa, also did
that which was RIGHT in the eyes of the Lord by taking the sodomites OUT
of the land (1 Kings 22:43-46). We also read that King Josiah did the "right" thing when he "brake down the houses of the sodomites" (2 Kings 22:2; 23:7).
In Isaiah 3:9, God makes reference to the boldness of the people who commit this grievous sin: "The
show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare
their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have
rewarded evil unto themselves." Is this not a perfect description
of the modern day sodomites who parade up and down the streets demanding
their rights? Ezekiel 16:49 says that PRIDE is a chief sin of the
sodomites. Perhaps this is why we read about "Gay Pride" parades.
Proverbs 16:18 says, "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
Some say only the Old Testament speaks against
sodomy but that the New Testament is silent about it. This is not true.
The New Testament clearly condemns this sin. Romans 1:21-27 speaks
about the sodomites. Paul says they are vain in their imaginations,
they steal God's glory, they are foolish, unclean, vile, and against
nature. In II Peter 2:6, the word "ungodly" is used in connection with
sodomy. Paul said in I Corinthians 6:9 that these people would not
inherit the kingdom of God.
Friend, sodomy is wicked in the eyes of God!
Don't most professionals agree that a person's sexual orientation is of biological or genetic origin?
Yes, but they're dead wrong. The majority of
professional people once believed the earth to be flat. Were they
right? The majority of astronomers once believed the stars could be
numbered. Were they right? The majority of scientists today believe
that men have evolved from monkeys. Are they right? In Genesis, the
majority of the world thought Noah was crazy. Were they right? The
majority thought Jesus Christ should be crucified. Were they right?
Listen friend, if you're running with "the majority," then you are on a
collision coarse with the Devil! IGNORE THE MAJORITY! Just trust God's
word. God says that sodomy is WRONG, so it's wrong. Period.
Besides, there are many professional people in the medical field who believe that sodomy is an acquired behavior. The book, Shadow In The Land,
by Congressman William Dannemeyer, cites several authors who disagree
with the biological and genetic theories. The following are among them:
"Homosexuality, the choice of a partner of the same
sex for orgastic satisfaction, is not innate. There is no connection
between sexual instinct and choice of sexual object. Such an object
choice is acquired behavior; there is no inevitable genetically inborn
propensity toward the choice of a partner of either the same or opposite
sex." (Charles Socarides, Homosexuality: Basic Concepts and Psychodynamics, International Journal of Psychiatry 10, 1972: 118-25)
"Whatever may be the possible unlearned
assistance from constitutional sources, the child's psychosexual
identity is not written, unlearned, in the genetic code, the hormonal
system or the nervous system at birth." (John Monday, Sexual Dimorphism and Homosexual Gender Identity, Perspectives in Human Sexuality, 1974, p. 67)
Doesn't the American Psychiatric Association consider sodomy to be normal?
Yes. In 1974, the APA removed homosexuality from
their list of mental disorders. Naturally, the sodomites make a regular
habit of informing us of this, but they fail to inform us of HOW the
APA came to this decision. Beginning in 1970, the sodomites started
invading the annual APA convention. Although not invited, they made it a
regular habit to burst into the annual meetings like uncivilized
barbarians. Once in the panel rooms they would resort to shouting and
name calling, in hopes of intimidating as many people as possible. They
also found it effective to appeal for pity by whining about their sad
plight, which they compared to racial discrimination against blacks. By
much sympathy pleading and very little factual evidence, the sodomites
won the hearts of a few psychiatrists and also a panel of their own in
1973. Then after a very effective letter campaign, the sodomites had
applied enough pressure to seal their victory. Finally, in a 58 to 40
vote, the APA decided to remove homosexuality from their list of mental
disorders in 1974.
Why not just leave the sodomites alone and let them live their own lives?
Because God hates this sin and He doesn't want it "left alone." Sin is like a cancer: when ignored it spreads.
As we've already seen from God's word, God commends those who oppose
sodomy, so we too need to speak out against this abominable sin before
it overwhelms us and destroys our nation like it destroyed Sodom. No,
we should not HATE the sodomites, but we should firmly oppose their sin
as the word of God commands us.
Can a sodomite be cured?
Man says, "No, because it isn't a disease," but
God tells us there IS a cure, because there is a cure for ALL SIN. God
is willing to cleanse any person of this sin and forget it forever!
Some people have the strange idea that God cannot forgive certain sins,
but the Bible says otherwise!
1 John 1:7 says, "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."
Revelation 1:5 says, "And from Jesus Christ,
who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the
prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood."
Friend, Jesus Christ has the cure. You can
ignore what the medical profession says about there being no cure for
homosexuality. There IS a cure, and YOU can have it TODAY - if you'll
confess to God that you're a sinner, repent of your sins (Luke 13:3),
and receive His Son as your one and only Saviour. Sin is sin, whether
it be sodomy, murder, stealing, lying, adultery, fornication, pride,
rebellion, or anything else. All have sinned and come short of God's
glory (Rom. 3:23) because all have been born with a sin nature (Rom.
5:12; Psa. 51:5). Jesus Christ shed His sinless blood and died to pay
for your sins and He rose again the third day for your justification.
The Bible says He'll save you if you'll RECEIVE Him as your Savior:
"But as many as received him, to them gave he
power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"
(John 1:12)
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
(Rom. 10:9-10)
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Rom. 10:13)
Friend, the decision is all your's. You can
believe man and pretend that God made you to be a sodomite, or you can
believe God and ask Him to save your soul from Hell through the precious
blood of Jesus Christ.
What's your decision?

Ottitigbe,
Did you say this " If AFrican American had inherited African family tradition, their lives would have improved like Africa inmigrans to the USA"
( Otitigbe )
I plan to put up an essay on the concept of "Akata" akatarism .
And I say " that's true"
The behavioral characteristics or personalities that could be described as " akata" , who they are , dominant gender and whether it is treatable , if we believe it is a disease.
Are we raising Akatas or are our kids learning such personality traits in their schools or street ?
I described one behavior my daughter exhibited recently as Akatarish and she went in crying. I guess I treated her of such attitude with my confronting her with such a label.
She is still upset . I plan to get why such a label made her upset when she gets in the mood to talk to daddy about it.
I cannot stand any feelings of entitlement and talking and dancing.

Dan:
Do you really know the real meaning of the word, “Akata”?
Is it really appropriate to use that derogatory word in describing our African-American brothers and sisters knowing, somewhere down the line, our own Nigerian children born and raised in the USA will become part of that culture you derisively call, “Akata”?
I guess, the man who started this debate, President Obama qualifies as an “Akata” or is he not because one of his parents was white?

Africa Can’t Let Old Traditions Stand in the Way of Progress, Warns Obama
President Obama was welcomed by the African Union's chairwoman as "one of their own"
RECOMMENDED FOR YOU
United States President Barack Obama wrapped up his four-day visit to Africa on Tuesday July 28 with a rousing address to the African Union, at its headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Calling for the empowerment of African youth and women, for an end to the “cancer of corruption” and greater economic ties between Africa and America, Obama told the 54-nation body that “It is long past time to put aside old stereotypes of an Africa forever mired in poverty and conflict.”
The African Union was established in 2001 to achieve greater unity between African countries and a better life for African people. Over the past decade it has gained strength and respect in the international arena as it wields its political and military tools to solve thorny African problems, from civil conflict to terrorism and obstacles to trade. By becoming the first U.S. leader to address the A.U., Obama ensured that his praise, his exhortations to do better and his promise of partnership reached every corner of the continent, on what is likely to be his last visit to the region as President.
Welcomed by the African Union’s first chairwoman, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, who introduced him as the President of the United States of America, the first to address the A.U., and “one of our own,” Obama took the podium to sustained applause, cheers and whistles. In a wide-ranging speech that touched on his African roots, Obama celebrated the continent’s gains, noting that Africa has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, with a middle class projected to grow to more than one billion consumers. “With hundreds of millions of mobile phones and surging access to the internet, Africans have the potential to leapfrog old technologies into new prosperity,” he said. But to continue on that trajectory, Obama warned, Africa “can’t let old traditions stand in the way.”
He called on African governments to maintain economic gains by improving democracy, protecting human rights and ensuring freedom of the press, singling out his host, the Ethiopian government, in particular for its crackdown on journalists and opposition leaders. “Democracy is not just formal elections,” Obama said to resounding applause. “When journalists are put behind bars for doing their jobs, or activists are threatened as governments crack down on civil society, then you may have democracy in name, but not in substance.”
He also encouraged African leaders to respect term limits, to act more like Nelson Mandela, who stood down after his second term as President of South Africa, and not like Burundi’s President Pierre Nkurunziza, who was just elected to a constitutionally illegal third term as President amidst widespread violence. “I have to be honest with you,” Obama said in comments that appeared to go off script. “I just don’t understand this. I actually think I am a pretty good president. I think if I ran again, I could win. But I can’t. The law is the law and no one is above it, not even presidents.” Even as representatives of the dozen African countries who have some of the longest-serving leaders in the world shifted uncomfortably in their seats, the audience erupted into the wildest cheers and loudest applause of the speech.

K C Asagwara,
On " Akata"
I heard of the word Akata as early as 1986 when I was still at home. It was my nephew in Texas telling me how he used to sleep in his car and sometimes prevented from going to work by his African American wife. He called her Akata.
I told him Akata sounds like Igbo
name or word.
He wrote back explaining it is a word that describes a "typical American Black, mostly women" unique behaviors, that our people at home would describe as typical of a woman with a mosquito bite in her brain.
I raised the issue so people like that knows the concept better can help me know more.
Meanwhile, Ada, my girl , has refused to say why describing a behavior she exhibited as Akatarish got her crying.
I also want to know why a lot of urban black women with names such as Matasha , Katanya behave alike
( Akatarish )or may be am biased?
I dread any woman I think to be Akata
( behavior wise) like I dread a poisonous snake.
One Mbano guy here in Brooklyn said he got the "akata poison".

Dan Akusobi, why don't you take Dr Asagwara's advice and quit while you are just being silly and ahead of the pack of Silliness? If you call the African Americans "akata", you are calling yourself an animal. Akata is a name of a specific animal in Yorubaland, very belligerent, incorrigible and disorganized (I think it is in the hyena or dog family......can't remember I just woke up after long night drive to a resort). I always find calling our fellow brothers and sisters "Akata" offensive and as despicable as calling blacks "niggers". Akata was not used as derogatory word for female African American , it was used for all Afro Americans in those
days. They call Jamaicans "Ireke", which means sugarcane, and the Arabs "Araba", Pakistans were "Paki". AND ANYONE USING IT NOW IS AS DESPICABLE AS ANY WHITE CALLING US NIGGERS! Those who formulate those names had no intent to discriminate, they just used them as Identifiers. Why call African Americans "Akata" during those 40yrs ago period? In my view because characteristically they are like Inyanminrins, full of "Ajangbila"........a fight to no end, and anger at the drop of a hat. If you had an argument with a black American in the park, he will run home to bring a gun, or if you left, he will wait for another day to complete the fight. Dan stop harping on the word "Akata", the world has changed we know better now. Our black American brothers and sisters are as good or better than most of
us Africans. You all enjoy your weekend, for I will mine. Shikena |

Igirigi,
I won't join Afis in calling anyone any derogatory names unless I have a strong reason to believe such persons described deserve the tag.
The Iyamirin thing is born out of envy of the Igbos by anyone that sings it.
We say nwata kpachou ibe ya na nku a si okpara ajo nku.
I only see some deep envy on the Igbo tribe or Igbo person in anyone that calls us Iyamirin.
Envy is one of human vices that infests and diminishes and defines the perpetrator as inferior to the Inyamirin.

| Otitigbe, Joe said you don't understand why a higher proportion of Black Americans are struggling compared to African immigrants. I can confirm that most of immigrants from Africa living in US don't understand why a higher proportion of Black Americans are struggling. You should therefore be forgiven. If you and other Africans know the history of African-Americans and how the history is responsible for their socio-economic situation today, you will empathize with them. Afis,
Am nearing the "donkey year " honor here in the USA and needed to know why I may be called a nigger and my Nigerian Children here may be called Akata.
You have educated me as requested and thanks .
I will however disagree with you in your insinuation that an Igbo is a typical Akata. It seems you can easily wear such pants because you have always come back on the Igbos with shaper machetes.
There would not have been Afis, Ayo and Jerome if Igbos are like what you said about Akatarism.
I shall be apologising to my daughter later today. I did not give birth to a hyena.
What you described as a typical American black behaviour of gunning for his guns is still here. That is how one of us here was taken out in NYC by someone suspected to be "akata".
Diokpa was reported to have placed his hands on the shoulders of a young black lady he walked across the street about 2Am .
It's still ok to believe akatarism, whatever and any flavors they come is still dangerous.

Dan Akusobi, It's the idiocy in Igbo that translates to Inyanminrin. Igbos are called "ajokuta mamomi", because they act without deep thinking. For only an idiot would eat a "symbolic rock" in the first place, and secondly to avoid drinking water after eating rocks would be super idiotic! No Yoruba can envy Igbos or their way of life because Yoruba way of life precludes Cutlass beheadings or Eating Humans. Yoruba collectively in Nigeria are decades ahead of Igboland. Okorocha just started imitating Chief Awo, while Tinubu is building Atlantic coastal city in Lagos. By the time Igbos learn to build a Cocoa House, guess where Yoruba would
be.......hehehehehe! No envy when I call Igbos Inyanminrins, just a name for a super-idiotic Tribe. In fact you should ask Chukwuma Agwunobi why I call Igbos any name I feel. I hope it's clearer now. Shikena, |

Dan Akusobi, you may disagree all you want, that won't change Igbos "Nmanjakiri" syndrome. I don't wish things on Igbos, they are ordained from Heavens. Have you ever attended any Igbo gathering where Igbos weren't talking on each other like barbarians? Look, if we have to help Igbos, we can't do it in Denial. Think about this: if Igbos had guns instead of cutlasses, with their prone to Anger.......don't you think there won't be anyone left in Igboland? |
| Dan, I hope you also see envy in those who call Yorubas "Ngbati". |

Ayo
I do not know the history behind Mgbati. Somebody said it is a description of how Yoruba language / speeches sound.
What do you think ?.
Dan
Dan Akusobi, stop making a fool of yourself. You know Mgbati is how Yoruba speaks, but calling Inyanminrins their Inyanminrin comes from envy. You sound like real Inyanminrin. Like I said decades ago, let tour enemies talk but don't hold me down when I say mine. |
