Before I start high-fiving you for being the bearer of ``good news", can you be on record confirming or denying thatthe GEJ-Okonjo PDP government has disastrously failed the people of the Niger Delta region (for failing, woefully, todevelop the region despite the billions they say they spent towards doing so)?Abba

....Fear of Loss of privilege-- the GEJ government was perceived, rightly or wronglyas being closer to the peoples of the SS and the SEas the most visible senior positions in the government wereoccupied by SE and SS indigenes, even thoughthere wasn't much on the ground to attestto a preferential or better socio-economic development in these zones compared to the rest of Nigeria as a result of these appointments. In fact, GEJ probably spent a disproportionate amountof the developments in Northern Nigeria in hisbid to appease PDP leaders from the north sothat they could give him a second term.

Abba,
I concur with you that GEJ economic team was a total failure. I will add that the same goes for Obasanjo's economic team. Both teams were over zealous about privatization, but misunderstood the concept of real life economics in a country like Nigeria. They all failed woefully and delivered nothing for the citizens. All they did was cushion the nest of themselves, their cronies and foreign companies and individuals. They left the people poorer than they met them starting from 1999 through 2015.
Dr. Joseph Ogundu
My brother Abba,You are trying to rewrite current history.
GEJ lost the election because the North had coalesced around the idea that he was stealing the 'North's turn' and that turn must be retrieved by fire by force.
Add to this Northern coalition many genuinely disaffected Nigerians who rightly saw GEJ as a weakling who , despite an outstanding economic management team, could not manage the socio-political issues plaguing Nigeria.
Here is Dr Ola Kassim, a noted Buharist, :
....Fear of Loss of privilege-- the GEJ government was perceived, rightly or wronglyas being closer to the peoples of the SS and the SEas the most visible senior positions in the government wereoccupied by SE and SS indigenes, even thoughthere wasn't much on the ground to attestto a preferential or better socio-economic development in these zones compared to the rest of Nigeria as a result of these appointments. In fact, GEJ probably spent a disproportionate amountof the developments in Northern Nigeria in hisbid to appease PDP leaders from the north sothat they could give him a second term.
Btw there was only about 2 million vote difference between PMB and GEJ--- with Kano alone giving PMB 2 million votes!
That is why I am confident that any competent candidate can beat PMB in 2019

On a more serious note if PMB develops the delta it will be proof of my thesis that turn by turn presidency does not benefit anyone---not even the people whose turn it is. Better find a competent person who will put the whole economy on a rising tide

It is your call and not mine. You are the VC of a university in the creeks. If you say your university in the creeks does not need canoes, who am I to challenge that.
