Fellow Akwa Ibomites,

Let me bring to your notice, a peaceful protest that was embarked upon earlier today by "Next of Kin" and families of Late Teachers of Primary Schools in Akwa Ibom State, whose entitlements was purported to have been paid in full by the fraudulent and  illegal administration of Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, acting governor of Akwa Ibom State (in small letters).

The caption read;

"Today the next of Kins of the late primary school teachers carried out a protest over their unpaid entitlements since 2005 till date. They said that all the original documents to which they can use to claim their entitlements, were collected from them since 2011 and they were given a clearance form. They also added that they were surprised when they heard over the radio and read in the programme of the 55th Independent day celebration of Nigeria as it was listed as one of the 100 days in office achievements of the Governor that the money had been paid."

Can we all attest to the inhuman treatment meted on our people by the Government of Godswill Akpabio and his extended administration overseen by his stooge Udom Emmanuel?
 
How can a government be so callous, lacks empathy for its people?

I am sure once they read this post, they are going to come out with an ignoble ridiculous press statement aimed at discrediting this protesters and sweeping this matter under the carpet.

Akwa Ibom State, don't wait until its your turn, #Edakkada with one voice and condemn for once this governments actions against the dead who once served the State and its people.

"Musa is now 47 years old and yesterday he was released on state pardon granted him by President Obama after spending 22years in jail.

whilst he was in jail,his mum passed on....

He is currently with Immigration and in the process of being deported back to the land he was born....Nigeria."

If he is pardoned and I am assuming here that he already possesses a green card and not citizenship. 

Q: Can they still deport him based on this crime???

*** of course if he has citizenship, no one will contemplate deporting him.

Of course, Green Card holders who were convicted for serious felony offenses are subject to deportation upon the completion of their sentences. He might have been released as part of the on-going exercise to release non-violent drug offenders. His release might not have been as a result of state pardon.

"He might have been released as part of the on-going exercise to release non-violent drug offenders." I think we all get that point. But this is a presidential pardon. It implies his crime slate is wiped clean, and his civic duties are restored, i.e if he were a citizen, it then means he could vote.

Where were these people when Akpabio was in power. They kept quiet and supported Akpabio to loot and destroy the state and its treasury. Why are they coming out at a time when there is no more funds in the treasury of the state.

FACT! During the first World War, the British asked a lot of Nigerians to enlist and fight, but most of the people who responded were Middle Belters, to fight on the British side. But virtually all these men were wiped out by German soldiers --around India, I think.
 
The loss was so great and palpable that virtually every family in today's Nigerian Middle Belt lost all their males. The sorrow was unbearable, and to the point that the British colonialists offered prices of One Pound and One Shilling (1 Guinea, as it was popularly known then) to any man who impregnates a Middle Belt woman and she bears a male child (and 1 Shilling, if a female child is the issue). Igbos formed majority of the responders who rushed in and fathered uncountable children with Middle Belt women.
 
Today, a lot of Middle Belters in their 60s to 80s do not know and cannot even say who their fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers are! Some people like Gowon, Atom Kpera, Babangida, Danjuma, David Mark, Aondoaka, etc do not know their fathers and/or their grandfathers. That is a fact.
 
Gowon, for instance, knows his father --Pa Yohana Gowon. But did Yohana Gowon know his own father or was Yakubu Gowon told who his grandfather was?
 
Incidentally, some of these men with no knowledge of their grandfathers, were among the Middle Belters that wiped out Nd'Igbo between 1966 and 1969. Dog eat Dog?

• Gowon had an Igbo wife;

• Obasanjo had an Igbo wife;

• Babangida had an Igbo wife;

Then the war was about Igbo women;

On a serious note, I would like to meet Gowon anywhere and any day to ask him a simple question: How were you unleashing your ‘soldier dogs – the vandals’ on the Igbo in 1968 and at the same time, taking and sleeping with their daughter? It is ironical! Although Gowon is a born-again Christian today, he must answer for the premature demise of hundreds and thousands of Igbo youth whose destinies were prematurely cut in their bloom. Gowon must answer for my cousin; a 1966 newly graduated/mented DMGS first-class student who was heading to Nsukka in 1967 but was interrupted by the pogrom and unrest visited on his Igbo race. In his peak, my cousin, Paul, joined the Biafran army to defend his defenseless race but was mowed down in Calabar sector by a sniper’s bullet in 1968, the same year Gowon was having fun with his Igbo sister. I can still visualize the swollen bullet-ridden head of Paul when the body was brought home in 1968! In Biblical terms, I also remember 1 Kings 21:19;

 

                "And you shall say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Have you killed and also taken possession?”’ And you shall say to                    him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “In the place where dogs licked up the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick your own blood.”’”"

 

Gowon must seek forgiveness for all the Igbo youth, including my cousin, who were slaughtered in their bloom under his watch and supervision during that ignoble war. Until Gowon does that, well... just as it was said in Shakespeare's Macbeth; "You have murdered sleep but will sleep no more!"

If something makes no sense,

It probably holds no essence.

 

 

It is amazing that the Edith Ike-Yakubu Gowon saga is coming to some adult Igbo men as a surprise. It was an OPEN secret during and after the war (that Gowon's "wife" was Igbo!). Edith was a girlfriend, allegedly a fiancée. Gowon was not married then and, as a Lt. Colonel with of-age Edith, it was no big deal. Igbo girls were "to-die-for" premium pretty, mirrors of beauty with no mosquito bites -- as Flavour would chant. Then “wetie” happened, the coups, the Pogroms, and there was a war. Apparently, Edith was moved back East heavy with Gowon’s child --  delivered and named Musa at some point. And so Edith claimed until she gave up the ghost at LUTH, where Gowon and his wife Victoria reportedly visited and commiserated.  Some say he apologized for denying Musa’s paternity, but that remained in the sphere of speculation.

 

I have written many times that we still don’t know why the war was REALLY fought. Why was it necessary to trash Aburi Accord that remains relevant after these many decades, when he (Gowon) could have attempted a renegotiation—assuming he found some aspects no longer acceptable to neo-colonist Brits and Asiwaju Yoruba I, Obafemi Awolowo? Was it oil? When the Niger Delta was captured and Biafra boxed in, why not stop? Why was it necessary to sell Bakassi fellow citizens to get Ahmadu Ahidjo to blockade Biafra? Why send civilian Asika to Enugu to replace a fellow officer? Was there a personal angle to the hatred/envy for Odumegwu-Ojukwu?

 

Now with the Edith Ike angle, another surmise surfaces: Was Gowon bitter with Odumegwu-Ojukwu for reportedly moving Edith (with his son) back to the East? Was he still carrying the touch of love even as he plucked Victoria out of nursing school and made her first lady? If so, why did he deny paternity and refuse to subject to DNA when Edith called for one to settle the matter scientifically? And why the brouhaha was going on, the young man Musa found himself entangled in some shady deals, something that could have been avoided with all the money Gowon allegedly stashed away in Caribe nations. And the rest is history. BTW, where are Gowon’s children with Victoria? Musa may be the only one in Nigeria—the Nigeria for which Gowon officiated at the slaughter of estimated three million souls and robbed many of innocent childhood.

 

There are so many unanswered questions about Biafra. These questions must be addressed to understand Biafra better. Gowon is not a happy camper. He has lived long enough to see his legacy shredded and in shambles... his long prayers notwithstanding. Nigeria is barely standing. Ndiigbo have since shoved his devious 3R and 20-pounds aside and moved on even surpassed their average compatriots. And the Biafra he had “killed” with executive fiats is resurrecting! If we do not know this much about Biafra, what are we going to teach our children; who is going to teach them…. what, where, when, how… How many of the neo-Biafra insurgents have a good grasp of the true meaning of Biafra? “Eziokwu, nwata hụ ọgụ egboro-egbo, agụụ ọgụ agụwa ya; mana, a naghị eji maka mgbagbu ghara ọgụ!” We just need to make sure that we know how water got into the pumpkin-leaf tube, what went wrong, and what worked.
