Script to automatically creates promotions extensions?

Hi, does anyone one of a script that creates promotions ad extensions (just released bt adwords) working off a google sheet? ie, client would upkeep a sheet with upcoming promotions, and the script would create the appropriate extension in the right campaign, at the right date/time

Promotion extension is not yet supported in AdWords Scripts. You can check here for the list of supported ad extensions in AdWords Scripts currently. You can follow our blog for any future updates like new releases.

Also it would be great to see support for price extensions.

Promotion extension and price extension are still not supported in AdWords Scripts. Kindly continue to follow our blog to receive any future updates on if and when this will be supported.

Currently, you can see from this link (in the upper part) for the supported ad extensions via the AdWords Scripts.

Just noticed that price extensions can be added via bulk upload, that solves that. I'll ask in the main AdWords forum if bulk upload support for promotion extensions is planned.

Thanks for pointing this out. Yes, I can confirm that price extensions can be added via bulk upload. I have tested this on my end and it worked successfully. For the promotion extension, I also could not see that there is an available template for this. Yes, you can ask the AdWords Product Team via the AdWords Community Forum on the availability of the promotion extension template for bulk uploads.

@Mitchell, you can check this link on how to download an extension template specifically a price extension template. Once you have the template already, you can then use it in your bulk uploads via AdWords Scripts.

Is there a way to extract the extensions from the account? Eg. report of the existing price extensions so we know which one to pause?

Hi,

Since price extensions are not supported in AdWords Scripts as objects, then you can instead use the Placeholder Feed Item Report and filter it by PlaceholderType = 35 (Price extensions) to get the price extensions in your account. Once you have the list of price extensions, you can then use the price extensions template to update your price extensions based on the supported fields in the template, and then use the bulk upload functionality.

In terms of Bulk Upload, under the Action column, I only see "Add" & "Remove" as 2 options. Can we use bulk upload to edit existing price extension? Eg. if the price of one of the item is incorrect, we can simply edit it instead of removing everything.

Hi Thao,

For the other bulk upload entities, you can actually edit them as you can see in this section for the bulk uploads. However, for price extensions specifically, "Edit" action is not yet supported as you can see in this guide. For now, you really need to remove and then add them again if there are changes in the values of your price extensions.

I cannot remove the price extension by script! :(

I tried following everything, but the error was "No matching item to remove" when I use script.

When I use exactly the same sheet, but download and upload manually as csv, then the bulksheet works normally. What is going on?

Moving forward, my apologies as our team cannot provide implementation for customers, we can however, provide the relevant documentation and information that customers can use to implement their requirements.

As for your concern, could you confirm whether you are referring to promotion extensions or price extensions? I asked because promotion extensions are currently not yet supported. You may follow our blog for updates.

Regarding the items you listed, please provide additional details on some of the items so I can better assist you :

1. Update ending of price extension every day? - could you confirm which attribute of the price extension you are referring to?
2. Set up % or X currency sale? - could you confirm if what you want is to set the % or X currency sale from somewhere to the amount field of price item. If yes, you could set it via the withAmount(amount) method of the price item builder upon creation.
3. URL 404 checker? - could you confirm if you are looking for a 404 error checker for price extensions URLs? If yes, then we currently do not have a Script for this, however, you can implement the UrlFetchApp.fetch() and supply the price extension URL. You can then use the getResponseCode() to retrieve the return code for the URLs that you specified.
