How to check and see if an account has enabled the 'Auto-apply' option for recommendations?

I am looking for a way to query the Google Ads API to check and see if an account has enabled the 'Auto-apply' option for recommendations.

Hi Nils,

Thank you for reaching out to our API support team.

I am afraid that there is no 'Auto-apply' option for recommendations in the Google Ads API. What is only available in the Google Ads API is to trigger an API request to apply individual recommendation. You may refer to this document to know more information about applying for recommendations using Google Ads API.

The workaround here is to retrieve recommendations and if it returns any recommendations, then create a process on your end that will apply recommendations.

From the thread here it's obvious that we can't enable 'Auto-apply' option through API.
But it's not entirely clear can we see if the option is enabled or not via API?
Could you please provide an update on this, whether we
1) can view this option via API
or
2) there's no way to get this information via API

Currently there is no report access to these settings via API. I raised with my team your request for reporting recommendation auto settings. This request is subject to review. You may monitor our blog for an update.

Moving forward to your concern, unfortunately the 'Auto-apply' option for recommendations is still not yet available in Google Ads API.

However, since setting accounts for auto-applying recommendations is not supported in the Google Ads API, however, you can implement similar behavior for the recommendation types that are fully supported by the Google Ads API. Refer to the DetectAndApplyRecommendations code example to learn more. See more at Apply recommendations documentation.

Furthermore, our team has already raised a feature request for this so that it will become available in the future. Please note that this will be a subject for review and what we can do is to advise you to keep an eye on the blog post for the updates and release notes  feature releases.

The Google Ads API currently doesn't support checking and seeing if an account has enabled the 'Auto-apply' option for recommendations. I will raise a request for this feature to become available in the Google Ads API. We cannot provide a scheduled timeline for the availability of this feature in the Google Ads API. I would recommend you to follow our Blog Post and Release Notes for future updates.
